Question about dagger necro in pve
are you using luck gear? I use luck gear to farm and go with dagger/warhorn and a MM build since minions damage are base and not drawn from any personal stats. lol and I hate conditionmancers so anything is more fun to play imo.
no, I’m gonna go berserker if I go direct damage. I already have a MF masterwork set for open world farming (although I haven’t touched it for quite a long time)
Dagger is more challenging for me to play because the only gap closer Necromancer has is Dark Path. You can still play dagger as your main and will be rewarded with higher damage but having to chase down you target all the time carries some frustration; especially in group PvE when other professions use their knock-backs. It is hard enough when I drop a well on a boss and a ranger knocks it out of the circle. having to run up close just to get a hit in is tedious. In solo PvE dagger is great, though. Also, some bosses port all over the place, like in the Molten Weapons Facility.
Sorry about the rant. Dagger has a lot of things going for it but there is no combat mobility on it like, for example, there is for Warrior’s short range weapon skills. Use DS a lot for Dark Path is my best advice.
Works fine in speed run organised groups. Lack of vigor causes a few problems when you have perma aggro in high lvl fractals. The lack of cleave isnt so much an issue because trash is easily burned down with wells + life transfer aoe. I run dagger warhorn and axe focus in all pve content including lvl 26 fractals and only have an issue in fractals due to the bugged downed hp (if i go down).
Thank you. I think I’ll still give it a chance and just a try. If it’s too squishy for my style then I’ll just put in some knight.
necro dagger in pve: press 1 and afk :|
most boring weapon set necro has shame its also probably the best damage we do (is this true anymore?)

Really!? Isn’t scepter basically the same?
You have some options that are going to make zerker dagger viable:
-Wells for the AE damage and control
-Heavily Traited DS to absorb damage and dish out some piercing attacks
-Flesh Wurm teleport to disengage from bad situations
-Vigor increasing sigils/food to increase uptime on dodge
Take Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew for the 40% endurance regen increase. It’s as close as you’ll get to vigor unless you got a warrior using warhorn or a mesmer with vigorous revelations to give you vigor.
Use axe/focus, dagger/dagger. Blood is Power, Well of Suffering, and Signet of Spite. Trait 30 into power line for 20% extra damage to opponents under 50% hp, trait 15 into curses for fury on death shroud, and trait the rest into soul reaping. Grab might and piercing/vuln on life blast.
Basically, you use death shroud for 2 reasons: To proc your 5 sec fury so you deactivate it and have 4 secs of fury for your dagger auto spam, or you use that fury and do life blast or life siphon for cleave/aoe damage.
Use skill 3 on axe, then 4 on focus, and lay down a well and channel axe no 2, switch to daggers and go death shroud for fury and cancel ds and spam dagger 1. Use blood is power lined up with either axe skill two or before using death shroud fury for daggers.
Keep your life force as much as you can over 50% always so you get a 5% damage boost from 25 trait minor in soul reaping.
I’ll be honest, you won’t be that great in aoe damage or cleaving, still good damage, but don’t expect ele/warrior/thief aoe.
Single target sustained, however, you pretty much compete with warriors and thieves, and you have more survivability or ability to stay in melee under pressure than them. You also use Lich form, which hits like a truck, and apply aoe weakness whenever you enter death shroud or with dagger offhand skill 5.
What this build needs is for dagger to somehow cleave at least 3 targets, and for axe auto 1 to receive a substantial buff in damage (axe auto damage is soooo bad, 2 stacks of vulnerability does not compensate for the damage lost).
