Hi, I’ve been trying out all the classes and necro is next on my list, I just wanted a quick breakdown on the weapons and how they do so I can have an idea of how I should play them while I try them out

Scepter and off hand dagger are the condition weapons. Dagger main hand and axe are the power weapons. Staff is a support weapon that gets benefit from both condition and power builds, however, staff is not a standalone weapon and cannot really be used as a primary weapon. Staff is mainly something you switch to for a specific effect (transfer conditions, chill, fear) and switch out of ASAP. Focus is a utility weapon, but its damage and utility are mainly based around power builds and has little to no synergy with condition builds unfortunately.

I forgot warhorn. Its another all purpose utility weapon.

Stuff goes here.

+1 for Kravick’s reply. Staff and scepter/dagger are the all-purpose weapon loads serving conditionmancers, which is the Necromancer’s primary design build. Axe/focus and dagger/dagger are for powermancers, hybrids, minionmancers, and other, more highly tuned, variants.

Staff and scepter are fairly easy in that staff is the longest ranged weapon and scepter is the next longest. Necromancer’s low combat mobility favors longer ranged weapons. AoE is also a central aspect of the profession. Use your AoE to degrade enemy mobility and damage output. It is the only way to balance Necromancer’s inherently poor combat mobility.

Lol, I have to veto your view on the staff (again). You can run the staff as a main weapon.
But yeah, many different kinds builds incorporate the staff because the utility on it is so great.

Actually the only weapon you can really be sure about is the scepter because you’ll have to go conditions with it.
All the other weapons can be used in power, conditions or hybrid builds. For example Khalifa is using an off-hand dagger in his power build.

You don’t have to go conditions with Sceptre.

My current build in full ’zerker gear (30/0/10/30/0 Minion life siphon) I use Sceptre/Dagger in my off-set for AoE and ranged damage.

Sceptre actually hits decently hard in a berserker set up, especially the #3 with a few conditions up.

Nice

Well that just proves my point, no weapon has a fix purpose!
