Could someone please tell me how to get past the fact that ANet seems to hate Necros? I seriously think that they do! Necros in GW1 have been seriously nerfed (remember running around with a horde of pathetic minions at your beck and call? Well, now that horde has been cut by a full THIRD. And they’re still all individually pathetic. So MM sucks now, Blood Magic was never particularly useful, the only viable Necro is a Curses Necro or a BiP battery T_T)

And now we have Necros in GW2 who have been nerfed to patheticness. Death Shroud? Awesome ability, lets you take hits and hit back like a truck, only… It has become impossible for a necromancer to use it viably in any difficult encounter (which is where you need it!) Reason? The skills we USED to have that gave us enough Life Force to use it, no longer give us Life Force, or at least not in anywhere near the amounts they had been giving it to us. So we now have to rely on killing mobs for Life Force. But once the mob’s dead, WE DON’T NEED LIFE FORCE ANYMORE!

It seems like a serious design flaw to make a class mechanic where we can only use it once every 8-9 enemies, as opposed to Warriors who liberally build up and use their adrenaline, Guardians who can pop their Virtues at least once a fight, Mesmers who spam the heck out of their clones, Thieves who build up initiative regularly and have skills that give massive boosts to initiative levels, Engineers who can use Toolbelt skills without any constraint other than CD, Rangers whose pet is always with them, and Elementalists who can swap attunements multiple times in the same fight, if conditions are right.

For every other class, the class mechanic is an integral and useful part of their build. It just seems like the Necro mechanic was thrown on as an afterthought. Please show me how I’m wrong, because I love the Necro and don’t want them to be so spectacularly useless!

Stop thinking that Anet seems to hate Necros If you stop thinking about it then you will get over it.

If your only able to use your DS every 8-9 enemies then your probably using it wrong. When you enter DS, try only going down to 60-55% of your LF then poping back out of it. The dmg cuts off anyways when you get below 50% I think.

I play a MM Necro. Out of all the groups I have been in no one has ever called me useless. Everyone seems to love my lil army Its the same way for Condition or Power based Necros. Each play style brings something different and its never useless or it wouldn’t be in the game

I really have no idea what you’re talking about. I haven’t played my necro since patch but patch notes didn’t seem to note any life force generation changes aside from FIXING the soul reaping trait line stats.

I’m a power necro and it works great.

They don’t hate necros they just did not do much testing. Its hard to know what is truly OP and what is weak until you get a ton of players competing looking for any edge finding the OP classes and combos for you.

Right, so it was me who misunderstood the class mechanic. Thanks to everyone who posted, imma give Necros another chance

On the other hand, my point about GW1 Necros is still valid T_T Ah well.

I play a MM Necro. Out of all the groups I have been in no one has ever called me useless.

My Necro main is 450+ hours. Since no one has the gut to call you useless, I’ll be happy to. You are useless. The only contribution that they would notice is your support from marks. They also notice your minions horrible ai aggroing the whole map and then some.

If you are referring to a group in WvW then I feel sorry for that server.

So many negative nancies, you gain life force a lot easier by fighting more than one monster. Try fighting more than one at a time, around 3 is the sweetspot. You should see your survivalbility spike.

Additionally for harder encounters, switch to focus as offhand and utilize those skills they provide life force. 20 traited into deathshroud is also useful for lifeforce generation utilization traits. Only use DS when all your Cds are up, or if you need to lay some DD down while your bleeds are stacked on them

Say what you want but I know how to hang back and make use of my minions. Sure, sometimes the AI messes up but they sure don’t agro the whole map because I don’t let them. When we need to sneak past stuff, guess what? You can desummon them by switching skills. Before you start calling other MMs useless how about you learn to play one first?

I will always stick with MM regardless of what people like you say and learn how to work with what is given me. I enjoy it very much and that is all that matters.
