Rabid/Carrion build possbile?
In SPVP it is not possible. You have to choose 1 or the other cuz amulet, in WvW it is, in fact I run it on my necro and love it.
I have Dire chest and legs, helm and shoulders rabid, gloves and boots carrion. My jewelry is a fair mix of carrion and rabid as well. My weapons are mostly carrion because I prefer to have a bit of extra health over armor for mitigation.
I actually have 3 different armor sets. 1 is with Antitoxin runes, 1 with 5x runes of nightmare + 1x misc condi rune, and 1 with runes of melandru.
What about sinister, and how would that work along with reaper specialization.
Thanks for the tips, but even though I’d like to experiment a bit rather than just take premade builds, what are your favorite trait lines? curse and spite don’t seem that strong to me, they’re supposed to be the most damage oriented lines we have, but either i can’t yet use them effectively or they lack damage
I roam WvW with full rabid gear (amulets, rings, etc.) And absolutely murder things.

If you want a tanky hybrid build go celestial, with spite lines might stacking it’s more viable than its ever been before.
Carrion and rabid aren’t tanky enough and going fully into condi damage makes you have little to know pressure in teamfights aside from boon corrupts. On the other hand condi is better 1v1, but you can’t always guarantee having a 1v1 and life force on any build let’s you swing a 1v1 in your favor.
Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
Hi all, after a couple heartbreaking tries of a rabid build, trying to mix power and condis, I was gonna come here to forum and post another rant…
But, after using extreme violence on my surroundings, people and objects, my thirst for blood was sated. You can make me hurt anything around me, but can’t hurt ME, Anet
That said, I’d still like to know if a hybrid build is more or less viable in pvp and wvw (despite the everlasting kitten everyone has for zerk), particularly a tanky one, that would care first about toughness/vitality, then at power/condi.
As I said, so far, so bad, so very bad.
Thanks for the attention, I’d be grateful for some general gameplay tips rather than builds
This is roughly what I run for WvW large scale http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNBLhZ6kGRomGsnGwlGg/GcgLUzxuJWCYbGAtANNajoF-TFzCABAcIAsUdgjPBA7s/gdPAgLVRJP9BMqEULlWeqSBDHBgsUmEAAB4mtZbezADdoDdoDdodzbezbezbWKAmEbB-w
I still do enough damage with it to have melted countless groups in my time while having enough survivability not to melt myself.
For raoming I switch up, I have an armor set I like to run which is mostly sinister with some carrion and runes of anti-toxin on it, also switch the well of suffering for spectral walkand transfusion to vampiric rituals. Obviously for small scale and roaming I also switch my food to the opposite of lemongrass poultry. this is very important because here, condi duration matters some.
Overall in large group situations the Condi Duration stat is to be completely ignored due the large amount of condi cleanses. It becomes an utterly useless stat. However, I only need my condis to tick 1-2 ticks in order for a whole group to literally assplode as my team heads in. If my ticks go a 3rd time they just die in their downed states. This, is the strength of it. I do this reliably like clockwork, and have been doing it for a long kitten time. It is a very true and verified method.
I prefer to dive in with the melee rather then bomb from afar, hence plague instead of lich. I ddint like lich because it makes me a big focus target and more often then not we go up against groups 2-3 times our size, so I need the plague.
On the melee pushes DS4 with transfusion and that little bit of healing power I have is very effective. My heals do around 3k-4.5k per tick per target. That is a lot of healing, I can basically bring a group back up like a large water field with a double blast without having to resort to it.
I also like the new changes to life drains, the team support it provides is great.
In 1v1 this is an attrition build, I lack the burst, obviously, but then again I cant be bursted down easily as well and them lifedrains …. they really do their work. Occasionally I run into a hard-counter build that just outright owns me, but that is a rarity, most of the time my opponents either die or run away which is fine with me.
Note the overall stats, and that you can use different gear sets to achieve them, you can have some celestial pieces, some rabid, some carrion, dire, apothecary etc. Also keep in mind that while they may look here vast majority of the time in combat I have 25 stacks of might + fury on top of what you see on the build editor. My condi dmg alone is in range of 2250ish if I remember corrrectly.
