is the full torment rune set really worth it? with only 2 (3 with heal) sources of torment and rather long heal cooldowns, im a bit skeptical.

Torment is not a high-dps condition like burning and it does extra damage if the target moves. The extra duration is the primary reason for the runes. The heal should be consume conditions but I will also try it on a SoV traited for reduced CD. The idea was to fear the opponent after a good helping of torment.
I do not have it on staff right now. The signet proc’s on crit so faster hits, max condition damage and decent crit chance are part of the build. I thought about placing it on a dagger but torment seems more designed for medium range combat.
The sigil was expensive, and so were the runes, for that matter, though I had been storing them for months until I could figure out what to do with them.
With Dhuumfire nerfed, Torment is my replacement. There are a few other sets of runes I intend to mull over. Without as much burning, precision seems kind of useless. My Rampager and Berserker armor need new plans.
On the bright side, I am a little more pleased with the performance of my Shaman’s Exuberance armor. It still is only useful for defensive support jobs but it seems less incapable than it was. Other professions can be better healers but few can do it as a tanky conditionmancer.

I’m still using tormenting runes on PvE, same as dhuumfire. I don’t think that the trait is dead. Now you just need to get into DS every time the cd is gone. Is not a big deal once you get used to.
For condition duration I think i’ll go with this set-up:
30% (spite) + 10% (toxic cristal) + 40% (pizza) = 80% all
Bleeding: +20% (Hemophilia) + 30% (lingering curse)
Torment => 100% thanks to the runes.
So, the only damaging condition that I left at 80% are just poison and burning. Poison doesn’t a lot of damage, so I don’t care much.
While burning duration goes from the base of 3 to 3*1,80 = 5,4 sec => 5 procs. 1 less from the 100% duration set-up. It’s a good compromise I think.

Basicly. I don’t think that torment alone is good enought, but there are indeed some bosses that moves a lot! (like the archdiviner in fractal)
I really love the healing damage, it makes me tag champions when they have 25 stack of bleeding XD.
With the torment rune set, 30 spite is mandatory to raise up your condition duration. I stil reccomand Dhumfire. It proc less, but still hits hard!
I don’t think you need a full rabid set for torment to be effective, depending on how much you invested into Curses. It’s 50% chance on crit, so even if you have lots of dire, it should work fine. Personally, I have around 35 – 40% crit chance, and it’s just fine (that’s with 30 points in Curses though…).
If you go to WvW where condi duration is pretty wild, it’s possible to keep 2 stacks of Torment on people with just the sigil, on top of Tainted Shackles (3 stacks) and the Heal skill (2 stacks). What you can do is start casting your heal skill, and press Escape. It will cause the Torment on all those around you without wasting your heal skill.
Torment, in my opinion is really strong (it’s also an additional condition, which covers up your other condis when the enemy cleanses). Mesmer scepter #2 is an excellent burst damage skill because it does 5 stacks of torment to a single target. Here, with a Necro, you’ll be able to do over 5 stacks in AoE. If you sprinkle in some Epidemic (if you like the skill), this can go pretty high

This will work with heavy investment and of course Epidemic. Dont suggest the Earth rune, try the new rune of strength instead for more condi-damage. Of course stacking corruption runes on offhand.
I also highly suggest trying Scepter/Focus in wvw.
Can someone post a build link for us returning pre-dhumfire necros looking to adapt to newer trait metas? (Will be using for WvW zerg with some havoc group support.)
