Making this thread for fun, also hoping to inspire those struggling to name their necro, with a simple format, and a scoring scale of 1 (Being BAD.) to 10 (Awesome level 9000+)

So I will go first, next person to post will score mine, comment, and post theirs, the next person will do the same, so on and so forth.

IMO, it’s also worth explaining what was the idea or meaning behind the name. And go pinn!

Name: Lilith de le Soir
Gender: female
Race: human

Idea: Lilith was, according to some versions, the first wife of Adam, and is generally viewed as malign female spirit in christianity. Guess it’s obvious why i picked it for necromancer )
As for De Le Soir, it’s her made-up name, for pretending to come from nobility (orphan and all that). I terribly botched french grammar while picking it, so I just pretend that the mistake was done by character. She isn’t real noble, after all :P

Sure, I’ll bite.

7/10 for Lilith, though I totally sympathize with the bad French, I named my human mesmer Leblanc De La Torre (did actually pick the nobility family history however). Anyways, as for mine.

Name: Charon Rimefang
Gender: Male
Race: Charr (#MasterRace)

Reasoning: Charon is a psychopomp in Greek and Roman mythology, also known as the boatman or ferryman to carry the dead over the river Styx and into the afterlife. The more commonly known scythe wielding and hood wearing psychopomp in modern history is Death. So, quite fitting for a necro/reaper. Rimefang I outright stole from an ice dragon in World of Warcrack, but it does also fit into Charr lore. Charr surnames are half given and half chosen. One part is given based on your warband (In this case it’s Fang, and I give it to all my Charr characters), and the other part is chosen or could be given, like a nickname, based upon the person’s personality or what have you. Seeing as necros and Reapers especially do a lot of chilling and freezing, Rime also made a good fit. Hence RImefang was born. (For context, my Revenant is Mistfang and I plan on renaming my engi to something a lit more engi-sounding).

“Krytan Butcher” – my necro’s a racist and an ex-convict for serial charr murders after the peace treaty, to which he never agreed.

Now released due to lack of hands to fight the mordrem he earns his freedom doing what he does best, only this time to cabba…erm “corrupted sylvari”. Never trust a salad! Or a catcow for that matter!

10/10 for the story behind the Krytan Butcher.

Human Female.

Named after my GW1 necromancer of the same name, the Lady of Pain ultimately owes her name to the Planescapes character who protects the city of Sigil from all comers, gods and demons alike, with her inscrutable blades.

Hey now, I was there for the searing too! I just always felt that some of the charr may have had a point. =3

Born Raginar Winterwolf, this Necromancer assisted in defending the Kodan with attacks by a local tribe of Grawl. Upon witnessing the efficiency and cold brutality in which the young Necromancer dispatched the Grawl, the Kodan proclaimed “The Spirits weep for such Darkness born within one of their children”. From this, the Kodan began to refer to Raginar under the new moniker, The Spirit Sorrow. He quickly adopted the name with pride. His name was later altered by his human allies to Sorrow of Angels.

2) Harvester of Dreams
Male
Sylvari

This night born Sylvari, was granted the name of Harvester of Dreams (a colloquialism for the Grim Reaper, or Death) upon exiting the dream as a fully developed and powerful Reaper (i.e. 30 level scroll and 50 ToK).
While the name is dark, the Harvester of Dreams would rather interpret his name as ‘Gatherer of Stories’
He collects stories of other Sylvari’s experiences after their leaving the Dream so as to better understand Tyria and the people who inhabit this world.

This is just his codename,his original name was lost in time.He lived somewhere between 1016 AE-1078 AE.
Resurrected in 1328 AE as Grenths secret apprentice,RMR was given a special training in dark arts by Grenth himself.
Grenth immediately noticed that his secret apprentice is very talented having obtained reaper form by doing amazing 12 hour Hero Challenge runs back then it was 400 points still.
Grenth especially values his selfishness and complete lack of boonsharing.
RMR is mostly known on Dragon Stand fighting the infinite loop of Mouth of Mordremoth ley energy terror.
Wielding 2 most powerful artifacts that originate from Grenth,Dark Harvest and Final Rest.
He is often seen saving people that are already weakened and often seen falling down the abyss in this state.
Although these people thank him for the quick save,he would often reply with “I only used transfusion to mend my minions,your pathetic salvation is only a byproduct of it”
Possibly to remain faithful to his selfish self.

Favorite skill: Rise! It fills me with such joy to see a herd of happy dead hamsters scampering around, killing living things to sustain my life force. <3

Favorite backpiece: Shadow of Grenth.

Trivia: I dropped my old Asuran name in favor of something a bit more mystical. I also wanted something to suggest eternity, which death is, but felt that “Eternal” was a bit too plain. So I went with “In Aeternum”, and during my travels, I see I wasn’t the only one to have these thoughts.

I’ll probably be the happiest, most cheerful death-obsessed Asuran you’ll ever meet. “Getting healthy!”

I’m torn between giving a low and a high score because I kind of have a love-hate relationship with puns. And so 7.5/10 a mid high for Deus.

Name: Eilalai Everlunar

Backstory: Eilalai Eeveerian was the ancestor who’ve perfected the use of the lich form and aimed for achieving imortality. Which did and did not happen. In the deciding moment her twin sister, Mort Eeveerian, whom sworn to bring Eilalai down for abandoning their family to the Charr during the searing threw a dagger into Eilalai’s chest, shattering her soul while the said immortality was achieved. Realising her mistake, Mort sought her own immortailty, but that is a background story for another forum. Fast forward to gw2, where a small mute orphan, following her life’s spiraling luck, finds an fragment of Eilalai’s soul. By touching, their souls merge and the Lich’s corruption changes the orphan and burns her eyes ghostly blue. Without any functioning vocal cords nor eyes she summons ghastly minions or assumes her Lich form to communicate when needed.
