so what builds are you guys going to try out during this beta weekend?
i’m having trouble coming up with something myself.

the way i see it Soul Reaping is mandatory so that only leaves 1 other traitline
i’m thinking maybe i’ll go for Death Magic in pursuit of that movie monster playstyle.

A bit curious ot see which gear you want for the builds, my first instinct would be to slap Cavalier/Valkyrie on most of them or maybe even Dire.

For the Juggernaut, I’m going to try to test full cavalier + melandru runes, a mix of cavalier and valk, and then full valk with wurm runes. The food will be -40%condi duration but we will see if that, melandru runes, and relentless persuit are all necessary in zerg v zerg play.

Dungeon Build will be full zerk. I don’t take deathly perception but even then, with ally buffs it should be close enough to 100%.

PvP build will use the cele ammu

This is literally the apocalypse haha. I think this is the most condi burst a reaper can do without having condis stacked on them and then transferred. You use scepter/x and staff. Either dagger for chill in transfer or warhorn for sustain and daze. Runes are flexible but perplex is probably best.

You can run this full dire or rabid or a mix. Maximum damage would be to run sinister stats though.

I’m not that good at straight condi necro so this is as good of a theory craft as you’ll get from me haha.

I’m thinking about this build for PvE: http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgQB6AVoBrw~

It works similarly to the Spite/BM/Reaper build for Dungeons, but rather than have siphoning I focus on RS uptime and combining Death Perception and Decimate Defenses for almost 100% crit. This means I can take Valkyrie gear instead of Berserker gear and still have high crit with added survivability. This will be my starting point and I’ll make it more survivable if need be.

I think hydromancy sigils, sigils of ice, rune of the elementalist, rune of Svanir, rune of ice, and runes of Grenth could all find their way into different forms of a reaper build using chill.

Shroud Knight Build.~ Gear: Valkyrie. Utilities: not set in stone.

The basis of the build is extremely simple and straightfoward: stay in shroud for as long as possible. The combination of Rending Shroud, Death’s Embrace, Unyielding Blast, and Reaper’s Onslaught means plenty of vulnerability to go around, and with Reaper’s Might + Siphoned Power there is plenty of self-stacking might as well. The main feature of this build is the ability to hit 100% crit chance without a single point invested in precision, which is why Valkyrie is the gear choice. Should the shroud fail, the utilities and weapons will be chosen to get the shroud back up.

There’s a lot that’s up in the air, though. Blighter’s Boon + Zerker compared for durability. Celestial + Dhuumfire for a hybrid variant. Also whether Speed of Shadows is a necessary addition (though I’ll probably be using spectral walk + d/wh, so swiftness won’t be a problem). But all in all, with this builds ability to cap crit chance, combined with immense vulnerability and might stacking while behind a formidable wall of shroud makes this a force to be reckoned with, in PVP or PVE.

On the PVE side, my question is how much DPS the Shroud Knight Auto does with Reaper’s Onslaught. If it is higher than GS or dagger, then valkyrie might become meta for the necro.

Gimmicky Leeching Build.~

I call it gimmicky because I don’t expect it to work that well, but mostly this is to see how powerful the recharge reduction with Soul Eater is. The combined vampiric traits will give GS a total lifesteal of 121 per hit, with 113 health recovered. I don’t know how well this will scale with healing power, so gear prefix is still up for debate.

The strength of this build lies in how flexible it might be. The version I have posted up now is the minion version, but it can also be easily tweaked to use wells or signets. The big thing to watch is Soul Spiral, which hits 6 times on up to 3 enemies. The gravedigger + soul spiral combo might be strong… or it might not. But that’s what these tests are for.

Flashing Knight~

This is the most generic, and probably most effective PVP build. The trick to this one is to flash in and out of Reaper Shroud as frequently as possible. When going into RS on this build you use enfeebling blood and unholy feast, and gain fury. Its actually quite the combo, inflicting weakness and cripple while gaining fury and retaliation. It makes this build frustrating to fight overall. Gear Prefix includes anything with precision.

Otherwise, it has all of the must-have goodies that a PVP build needs. Plague Sending, Path of Corruption, Blighter’s Boon, Chill of Death, etc.

I don’t have opinions. I only have facts I can’t adequately prove.

To be honest, the traits don’t look that exciting. But this is the build I’ll be going with.~

Since everyone’s giving their builds cool names I’ll call mine… Hmm.. My account name! Which means a curse of wickedness or great curelty. Spell Of Iniquity (:

Will be using it in WvW. As usual, it’s a less than ideal build as most of my builds are. But it looks like it’ll be fun to play around with so I’m interested in seeing how it’ll work out.

For anyone who doesn’t want to click the link, essentially a Spectral conditionmancer, the build I’m always using, with some benefits from the Reaper specialization.

EDIT: Hm… Looking at Death’s Charge I’m actually a bit excited now. A leap finisher through Spectral Wall → Chaos Armor. This could be very nice, a good way to give myself access to Confusion application while also causing Fear, which in turn causes Chill, which will both deal damage if my target hits the wall. I won’t have any access to Torment anymore which makes me sad ): But in turn I might have some more painful bursts.

A RS camping build with gs and shouts for PvE. I don’t think dropping zerker and going for something tanky would be better for PvE content. Also using “Your soul is mine!”, “You are all weaklings!” and “Chilled to the bones!” maybe helpful. Signet of Spite and Well of Suffering will prob still be mandatory for most dungeon stuff though.

I don’t know how well this will work, but basically the goal of this build is maximize vulnerability stacks asap. I’ll run with the well that inflicts vuln and the shout that inflicts vuln. This will let me run the soldier or valk ammy but still have a solid crit chance.

Wouldnt blood magic be better team dps than sr in an organized group ?

the group lifesteal is about equal to a personal 5% modifier. But with soul reaping you get extended lich form which is great for burst and better vuln application with RS. However as reaper stands currently you wont be using it at all. The numbers are very low.
