Reaper Greatsword - Needs More Range
I like the suggestion.
I had the same suggestion some time ago. Reaper and GS viability scales with range and expected the narrow cones and short range to be huge handicaps.
Reaper and GS are melee AoE so they should be weaker than single target skills. Making them super slow with big tells and small areas of effect on a profession with no mobility offers too much counter play.
Solid idea, GS is basically unusable right now.
Yeah not a bad idea so +1
Yes, range 300 on Greatsword attacks would solve a lot, but how would you explain it doing damage beyond it’s reach?
BUG ALERT!!!
The Greatsword’s attacks have a tooltip that has a longer range. The dagger has a range of 130, whereas the greatsword has a range of 170.
The bug is that the greatsword doesn’t actually have a longer range. It has the same range as the dagger.

The greatsword has a shadow trailer, the GS attacks could throw out these shadows as an augmentation to the range of the attacks

When you say unusable are you referring to PvP/WvW?
In PvE it is a welcome option from axe and if quite strong. I’m enjoying it in that realm greatly and find it very effective.
My only suggestion is when we give feedback we want to specify what mode we are talking about.
See you in Tyria.
Its not worth using in PvE, you’re better off just auto attacking with dagger.
I am strictly referring to PvP. See my first post for suggestion on how to visually compensate for the high range greatsword needs.

it’s really not viable in pvp at all (Unless you’re pugging unranked/practice modes), it attacks so slowly that anyone with half a brain can easily avoid all the damage from it, especially with chill no longer affecting movement skills.
