Reaper Tank Builds for Raids?
The build I run is really effective at drawing the Vale Guardian’s attention while all the zerk armor players are throwing everything at him. It’s just a Soldier Bruiser build that I also use in PvP, but it’s highly effective and self-sustaining so everyone else can focus on their jobs without worrying about me too much (see my signature for the PvP build. PvE version is just whatever you want so long as you have the soldier gear. I use soldier trinkets as well, but throw in some valk or berserker if you want)
A trailblazer’s burning reaper does really well for me. Very sturdy with great damage. So far (with carrion accessories and burning runes/sigils and consumables) maxing around 9 burning stacks.
This is my current build:

It’s a cavalier’s reaper build that takes advantage of Decimate Defenses and Death’s Perception to achieve 100% crit chance while in shroud and 76% crit normally. With the power and ferocity this allows for excellent damage while being a beastly tank.
You can go in with your normal DPS build, maybe with minor changes and some toughness food while in Berserker gear.
If you want to just go completely faceroll on it, you can use a BM/DM/Reaper build and basically never die, ever.
This is what I’m using when tanking with my Reaper. If you think X sigil or Y gear should be something else the answer is most likely: I don’t have enough gold/currency to change. So this is what I’m using, not what I would like to use.
But it works well and good, I don’t have any problem facetanking VB, I only dodge for teleport fields. I can also help a bit with condi (dhuumfire & shroud 4) and my damage is not too bad considering I’m a tank. My crit chance during the raid is of course 100% and 25 might.
I can’t help but think that the ability to tank in Zerker gear with Toughness food is a failing on the part of PvE’s design, namely it being extremely forgiving to those used to the current meta.
Keep a tankier build in your back pocket, such as a Cavalier + Scrapper Runes DM/SR/Reaper, just in case you end up needing it. Until then, I bet you can pump out a tank in DPS gear, as people are saying.
