Reaper and ranged?
I don’t see connection with scepter so staff unless axe gets a range boost if you want to use GS if not finds what suits you it will probably be staff.
The Dhuumfire thread
Iam going GS/Staff and I most likely atleast when Roaming on Reaper gonna have Sp.Grsp cause tho I think Reaper is better then current Necro vs ALL enemies in Melee its most likely worse off vs most Range. Tho Ranger imho is the only real Ranhe-Dps class left…

Depend on how you want to play the reaper.
Lookin on the traits there’s a chance to make it the best condition build for the necro, with the combo of the trait for the scepter and dhuumfire on reaper, making you able to stack 10-12 burn all the time against a pve enemy and stack 4-8 burn all the time on a pvp player.
The same about www, in a zerg you will be able to stack a insane amount of burn.
Plus chill and all the other conditions.
If you llok at that, scepter can be your weapon.

Didn’t scepter trait get nerfed to only apply to skills on scepter? Correct me if I’m wrong.

You’re correct, only applies to conditions applied by the scepter skills, not conditions applied while the scepter is equipped.

Yeah, the duration only applies to scepter skills, and for good reason. If you added that GM with doom you have 3 1/4 to 4 second fears and that would be completely broken

Well, first, ignore axe. Axe has a really short range, but is one of he worst weapons in the game for damage, its autoattack coming in below elementalist staff in water Attunement.
Second you can safely ignore focus. Focus 4 really needs to be cast at point blank range for a non pathetic effect, and Focus 5 has too long of a cast time to be used.
Even though you need a power based range option, and axe + focus are power based range options, they are too bad to use.
Your choices: Scepter, Staff, (or none).
If you choose either scepter or staff, your life force generation is awful. (scepter an be paired with Warhorn, but that needs melee. Staff can be Traited with soul marks but this helps less than you’d think). So if you use greatsword, you might need dagger/Warhorn as backup.
As for the actual skills, scepter has a useful cripple field on low cool down and poison on autoattack. Even with zero condition damage, poison is still good because it nerfs enemy healing (especially healing from “rallies.”). You also get to add the weakness & transfer of offhand dagger or the swiftness & daze of Warhorn.
Staff has life force on autoattack, two short chills, and condition transfer on #4. The chills work really well with your traits, & the condition transfer is something you’ll appreciate.
I think most reapers will end up using staff.

yeah thanks.. i intend to run with greatsword so i’m just trying to figure what if anything can compliment it. i’m going to be running mostly spvp since that’s what i enjoy the most
Definitely staff. It has a powerful aoe chill on its 3 skill, an aoe condition transfer that will always be useful no matter how you’re specced, and a short aoe fear. Plus a bit of life force gen on auto attacks, though I don’t think that’ll be very significant. The only other real useful option is axe/warhorn. Both warhorn skills are incredibly useful for the Reaper, and the axe is just a bit less useless for reaper than scepter, I think, due purely to it’s 3 skill.
