Reaper breaking bar
GS 5, 4
Reaper Shroud 5 and the Fear on 3
Chilled to the Bones (Elite skill)
GS 4 is not fast but it costs almost no time
I think Staff isn’t that great to break the break bar fast.
Dagger 3+Horn 4/5 get the job done way better.

What Jethro said. Also if you’re adamant on using staff, start off with it by using #5 and 3 (for fear and chill) then swap to Greatsword and continue with Jethro’s suggestion.
thx a lot guys:)
i had a trouble with a matriarch in VB. i used a minion with elite skill, but it was too slow,
so i was wondering which skills would be faster with breaking a bar.
i, kinda like a reaper in HoT stuff any ways:)
edit: spelling
the strongest breakbar breaker available to us would be flesh golem. So to break a breakbar:GS 5, 0, F1, 3 3, 5, (4)
golem’s cripple spam plus our chills also makes sure the breakbar stays as low as you got it.
(edited by Kumouta.4985)
Knockdown – Flesh Golem’s Charge
Stun – War Horn 4
Fear – shroud 3, Spectral Wall, staff 5 (not recommended)
Chill – various sources
Pull – Greatsword 5, Spectral Grasp
Push – Lich 3 (not recommended)
Flesh Golem Charge-tends to miss if not facing enemy
Fear- RS #3, Staff #5
CTTB-works better if you’re dealing while mobs for lower cd.
That’s the main ones i deal with anyway, pull is meh.

Flesh golem is on a 40s cooldown, which is 18.5 seconds better than CTTB even if it hits 5 targets when traited.

CTTB just needs to be in range to hit up to 5 targets and works without targeting.
RNG-Golem needs to be in the perfect spot and is not maintaining CC while he’s walking back to the target
Also CTTB does not need to be resummoned after death.

We’re talking about CC’ing a break bar though. Rarely will you need the 5 targets on a single boss.
The time between the charge the and walk back is minimal.
In pve at least, golem is tanky as hell given the 95% damage reduction from indirect hits. Cttb is basically only better in pvp or wvw, because minions suck there and the stability is awesome.

CttB has yet to let me down in PvE and I find it to be better than the Golem. Simply put, if you’re a Power Reaper like I am the last thing you want to focus on is your minion and trying to line it up. On a ranged Build (Condi), Golem is best hands down but unless you’re running Minion Mancer in PvE, Golem is a pretty big waste. You can’t even unsummon the thing from what I’ve tried, you have to change your Elite skill thus forcing the Golem skill on CD (in instances where you want to roam or complete Maps and don’t want the Golem attacking everything it sees/being attacked by everything).
It really comes down to personal playstyle between the two. As for the OP’s question: I find Warhorn 4 does more to BBs than anything else I’ve used. Pulls I think are the only other CC that comes close (GS 5) but that’s just my personal input.

Aye I agree with you on the map roaming/completion bit.
