Guild Wars 2

I am just starting this game. I want to do hot join pvp for the most part, and eventually WvW when I reach 80. I have played most professions through level 15 or so. I want a profession that is

1.) Durable/Survivable with medium damage. This could be through regen, healing, boons, armor, whatever. I was hoping I could outlast my opponents by draining their life and gaining health.

2.) I would prefer to fight at range, not in melee. I’m fine with going into DS when needed but want a ranged option for at least one weapon set.

Most of the tanky builds I find are dagger or axe based. Can I do both ranged combat and have a tough necro, or should I be looking at another profession? There is ton of information out there, and I could use some tips on narrowing my search.

What do you want to do in WvW? Zerg or roam/small group?
