To be fair though, the two classes who can “spam” stealth, Thief and Mesmer, are both really suspicable to conditions or burst – whereas Engineer and Ranger… well you get the drill…

I never had much of an issue fighting a Thief on my Necromancer, though S/D was quite annoying but that build uses nearly no stealth… It quite predictable at times, and you can bait them really easily, and chain them down fast…

This probably would have ended up on some skill I would never take anyway, like corruptive poison cloud. It wouldn’t be enough to justify your utility slot.

Necromancer is supposed to be the de facto best offensive attrition/debuff profession class. Based on necromancer design goals, we should be the one class with every possible tools that prevent our opponent to escape no matter what.

It doesn’t matter if it’ll be useful or not, the fact that they are giving those tools -I’m also talking about torment- to classes who already have access to:

(Mesmer-ranger-engi)

-Stealth
-Evade
-Vigor
-Immunity
-Substain
-Aegis
-Mobility

is not right.

Our design intent was to stay on our target indefinitely, but in order to do so, without what I just listed above, it is simply natural to at least give us the best debuffs in order to help necromancer to prevent any attemps at escaping in a fight.

Why should we just be average in the anti mobility departement? And don’t get me started on how our attrition is non existant… This was supposed to be anet design intent, but clearly, they forgot.

Anyway, I’m glad I uninstalled this game, it’s just not fun anymore.

Maybe it’s not fun because you’re hanging into this pre-launch idea of what the necro was planned to be 2 years ago, that hasn’t been true and is no longer implied to be true.

Also I have more than enough tools to deal with thieves in my build, and on any build I run. It’s not worth being upset over that we didn’t get reveal on some useless skill.

And I don’t care about how you do against them, this is simlpy a bad argument, It doesn’t even make sense, are you aware engineer already hard counters thief no matter what build they use? Anyway, keep in mind that I’m talking from a design perspective.

Those thieves most be extremely horrible to not use LOS and position in their advantage in order to avoid those AOE. It’s irrelevant to this discussion anyway.

I gave you the link because you brought a misinformation ( 2 years ago, that hasn’t been true and is no longer implied to be true.). If you want to respond with a straw man, go for it. Tbh I actually think Rangers after being the punching-bag for 2y deserve some time in the spotlight (it so reminds me on the Shadow Warrior from Warhammer Online) always being the underdog, never being seen as much of a threat…

What I just wish is that we Necs could get out time on top, we had it for a short period during a special time called “beta”…. ooh how I wish those glory days would come again.

Dont get me wrong Condi necs are still pretty strong despite some classes closeing that gap aswell or even passing us (pd hint hint)but Power Nec is well…hard to hold onto.

ps: Btw Anet Unholy Sanctuary gave me 3-4sec of DS when I exited I died to a AA from Skritt NPC, love that attrition class we become, tnx.

regardless of how i feel about it now, their design philosophy of necromancer has not changed and they have stated this more than a couple times. hey at least i got a two target cleave.
