Remove DeathShroud
They will never remove deathshroud. It is here to stay unless you switch games.
Only static Class Mechanic? Overdramatic much, don’t you think? Or do Guardians, Mesmers, and Thieves not count in this weird world you live in?
Theives have the extra dual wield skill
and their steal is based on the target.
DS is fine and probably the best mechanic in the game imo (2nd health bar so nice). Only changes I could see that would make it more useful to condi necros:
1. Life Blast transfers a condi -like underwater version
2. Life Transfer also either transfers condis to enemies or takes them off allies (something along those lines).

Lol There is nothing wrong with DS. This is The only thing that can necros use if they want to survive for a long time. Don’t use your DS until its empty use only for a little time for Life transfer and maybe fear until you get your healing skill back. if yomeone trying to excape use the second skill with chill. If DS is empty there are a hundred skills that can make it fill up again.
I like the Idea of Khalifahaze.6045 that maybe the first skill should have a 20% chance to transfer a condition to the enemy, then maybe I would use it. Now I don’t really use the auto attack of DS because it’s just using the life force.
I don’t understand what you mean by ‘static’ class mechanic. Could you explain?
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.
Id love deathshroad, if only 1 thing changed. After playing the necromancer(not for long mind you), that 2nd hp bar, is litterly the best thing ever. Now, I would like there to be more then 4 skills. I would prefer there to be skills based on your current weapon when you go into deathshroad.
For example, DS Ax, your first two are based on the axe. And you carry a warhorn so your last two are based on warhorn.
I know it sounds ambitious, but I would prefer it to be a little less The same no matter what. It’s a wonderfull mechanic though.
I think it’s a good mechanic with a lot of strategic value. I just wish they would do some tweaking with the lifeforce generation. I feel locked into using the staff because it’s the ony decent way to build up some lifeforce before jumping into the thick of things. And scepter is horrible for it.

Agreed, this would also address the problem that condition necro’s have with death shroud. Such changes are far too ambitious for arena net, but DS definitely needs more than a UI tweak.

Sorry, but if you think DS only works for Power builds, you are lacking a LOT of knowledge about building necros. I recently made a condition damage build that also uses critical hits to apply extra conditions. Popping into death shroud every time 4 is up means an AoE attack that ticks 9x for every enemy within range. At about 80% crit chance, every crit has a 60 and 66% chance to apply bleeds (that means up to 2 bleeds per tick). That means, with great luck, I can apply 18 bleeds to EVERYTHING within the DS 4 radius. Please tell me how that doesn’t help condition builds? And since every condition build should go into curses at least 20, every condition build will have similar access to condition application.
Every build can use it as:
A gap closer
Decent burst of damage
“OH CRAP” button, you can negate almost any burst with it
On-demand fear: stops people from ressing enemies, stomping teammates, healing, in the middle of a dangerous channel (gg 100b warriors)
And a variety of utilities depending on traiting, it can apply vuln, give might, remove conditions, heal, apply conditions, and more.
DS is a vital mechanic of necros, no necro build cannot use it, no good necro player doesn’t use it.

Almost every class has a bleed on crit trait, the mere presence of bleed on crit doesn’t make it a condition powerhouse. You need more for that, and DS doesn’t have more, unless you count neutering your cond damage by removing BiP as “more”.
Especially since if you do happen to pop 18 very short-lived bleed stacks, you just killed all but 7 of your long-lived ones.
Oops.

This.
+ Allow us to use the DS abilities without having to go into 2nd HP bar mode if we wish, maybe at the cost of slightly more life-force used for the benefit of not being locked out of our utilities and important combat information.

Life Transfer hits 9 times in 3s. Superior Sigil of Earth has an internal 2s CD (according to Wiki). 66% chance on your critical chance (80%) means Barbed Precision procs about half the time (50%). That means you will apply 9/2 + 1 (Sigil of Earth) = 5.5 bleeds per person. I’m not sure how you got 18 bleeds unless you count 5 people (AOE limit) which means it’s ~27 bleeds distributed out. Do correct me if I’m wrong.
Anyway, I like the idea of DS, I think it is just the implementation of the idea that came out rather crudely. I cant count how many times DS has saved me in WvW. I have experienced it on the other side too. Countless times I’ve almost downed an enemy Necro before he DSed and ran into a tower.
Again, I’m not saying that DS is great the way it is, it’s a great concept but executed poorly. It has to be able to synergise with the majority of builds, ANet should address that.

Agreed! I have only 40% crit chance but with the auto attack of scepter I can easily maintain about 8-10 bleeding on enemy and also if im out of Luck Life transfer give the oponent about 4 bleeding (Trait + Sigil of Earth).
Yes, It’s another one of those Threads.
But please remove Deathshroud!
It locks us out of our Utilities, it stops us from using anything in synergy, it is primarely only for Power-Builds, it has poor synergy with all other builds, it is tedious to go into DS and then try to make the most out of it and most importantly: it is the ONLY static Class mechanic.I’d even be happy with a 3-ability, weapon based Death Shroud tht further intesifies the gameplay styles of the Necro Weapons.
General “Dream-Mechanic” thread I guess.
I am still in favour of 4 F-Skills that consume Lifeforce: Empowered Attack, Flash/Fear, Shield and generic Minion that can later be Shaped into a specialist with Minion Skills
Its simple… Don’t use it.
There, it’s removed…
I cant believe people actually replied to this stupid post. OP is either trolling or taking a 5min break from his main and trying necro; that’s the only explanation I can think of without being too rude.
Posting here just keeps this ####*%&$ post alive
thats funny for a second there I thought you said remove death shroud.
tjis thread is pointless. .. and annoying. you obviously areny a good necro. L2P.

Only for power builds you say…
Nemesis live-stream channel - focusing mainly on Guild Wars 2, League of Legends and Dota II.
My only issue with DS is that it hides the rest of the UI, that’s it.
It’s extremely useful and fun to use. It has a short CD so it’s basically good to jump in and out quickly. For example, I use it close the gap on an enemy, so I use DS, close the gap, get out of DS and start stabbing/blinding/dropping wells.
I will agree that I personally was able to use DS more often with my Power Build, rather than Condition build… then again, I didn’t enjoy Condition build so I haven’t really put the time into it (it’s just not my cup of tea).
DS is great, but i would like some features:
Life blast scales with every 10% LF not just drops on 50%, both land and water versions transfer 1 condition from you to all targets hit, 3/4 cast time
Life Transfer if speced into transfusion heals you for the same amount it heals allies without having to do the end of DS trick
Normal HP and conditions/buffs are visible
While in DS nearby deaths give you 5% life force instead of nothing
Leave DS heal trait heals based on % of LF you have left
Foot in the Grave (and all transformations for that matter) stability is permanent while in form and counts as effect not boon.

It was an example I threw out, I haven’t done testing to know if there were any CDs, and I meant it as an extreme example (you usually get 4-5, which is still at least 500 damage + life transfer damage). But, DS only doesn’t have great OFFENSIVE synergy with every build, and thats completely okay, considering how strong it is on defense, if I could build every single of my builds AND have DS as a second source of stupidly high damage, it’d just be ridiculous. Necro condition builds really don’t need any offensive help right now, with how insane Epidemic is.
Edit: I do agree that they need a better UI though, not being able to see important things while in DS makes things really difficult.
