Q:

With all this information about active support on other classes, will renewing blast still remain a necromancer trait, ie, moved into blood magic or something?

Why shouldn’t we be able to run around slashing our allies and infusing their blood with life force for skillful AoE heals ?

Reaper of benevolence playstyle please.

Necromancer’s design theme is so strict it precludes any other play style.

Renewing blast was nice on paper, but doesn’t translate well into actual LB play since it’s very hard to line up. Topography, enemy height etc. makes Renewing Blast useless a lot of the time.

The imbalance between vanilla DS and RS would be staggering as well. While it would be near useless on Life blast, it would be a totally OP on RS, cleaving allies with 1Kish heals on AAs.

I would rather see it scrapped and replaced by something that’s more dependable across all Necro support builds in the BM tree.

You could make a similar argument in reverse for Unyielding Blast being near useless in RS and almost necessary in DS.

Plus, the positional disadvantage of using RS auto attacks to heal allies would make up for its relatively powerful healing ability.

Yeah Unyielding blasts and other penetrating attacks have similar issues, but work because they only need to hit enemies, not enemies and allies. Trying to line up Life Blasts to hit multiple enemies is much easier and more in the control of the Necro, than trying to line up enemies and line up allies at the same time.

Your Unyielding Blast is always going to hit at least 1 enemy and apply vulnerability. Topography very seldom gets in the way of that. However, Renewing blast can very easily hit 0 allies, just because an enemy is standing on a hill, or your ally is strafing the opposite way of you and enemies etc.

I would like to believe the positional disadvantage to RS would make up for it but I don’t think it would. RS attacks are pretty fast and appear to be a really good cleave. It wouldn’t take much to apply some serious and constant heal support with AAs alone.

Maybe make it so Renewing Blast healing is divided amongst those allies “hit” per RS swing? Not sure.

Plus, Renewing Blast is extremely high sustained healing. It isn’t hard to get it to heal 1k per blast, and that would be OP on Reaper’s Shroud with both greater ease of use and much faster attack speed.

Obviously numbers can be tweaked so that isn’t really an issue Drarnor.

A new exciting class that will take care of your supporty feely needs. Reroll.

You’re hopefully not talking about Ventari , because that thing will not be good. It has no healing skill (#6 skill) and you need to pay 10 energy to aim your skills.

So you are betting all you have on them (Anet) rehauling “the dark evil mage” of this game into a monk/paragon. Yeah I can totally see that happening.

Who said anything about monk/paragon, I was more thinking about the lines of the dark evil mage who molds his (unwilling) subjects into enhanced monsters.

So giving party members buffs. Just like a Monk/Paragon then.
I’d say a dark evil mage would mess up his enemies instead and that I guess is the difference in vision about what the class is and should be.

Remember were not actually dark evil mages lore wise, even in GW1 (save for Vizier Khilborn… and Palawa Joko…). Basically Necromancers are just that. Mages with power over mainly death and everything in between it and life.

So it fits that a character centred around controlling life force and death would be able to use that energy to “heal,” alter and ressurect others. Just in a more unnatural sense rather than a divine light upon high one.

Anet even states that Necros in GW2 aren’t undead masters, but more or less what I just stated.
