Good afternoon folks I was hoping someone would be nice enough to help me out. I have just come back to the game after a long break and am looking to get my necro some shiny equipment and maybee a legendary or two. I have almost gotten world completion and am looking to start Pugging dungeons and fractals. I undersand that necros can be somewhat lacking in that department but no other class seems to hold my attention. Im currently running a vampiric well mancer wigh axe/focus/warhorn. If i understand thr forums correctly dagger would give me better DPS however my dodginv needz work. I am looking for a decent entry level build that i can offord and that would let me keep some range to increase my survivabilty. Thanks fof any advice

But seriously, I’ve heard a lot of people complaining about being excluded from dungeons and fractals for being a necromancer. So be prepared for it.

This is not the attrition class you are looking for. In fact, its not an attrition class at all. Its a burst damage class.

If your goal is to PUG dungeons and fractals and your concern is not being able to dodge in time while wielding a dagger, I’d argue that the range of bosses’ one-hit-kill shots is such that the range of an axe isn’t going to save you. You’ll still be close enough to be one-shotted.

The best way to get better at dodging and wielding a dagger is to simply go do it. Certainly swap back and forth between weapon sets as needs and your comfort level dictate. However, I think you’ll find your dodging skills improving much more rapidly at dagger range versus axe range. Plus, IMHO, it’s a lot more fun and active with a dagger. Try dagger/X + staff to begin with to give you a long range safety option.

I’ve done every dungeon and fractal with a dagger/warhorn; so it is doable.

Well to be honest im not sure just how horrible i am at it. Part of my problem is im a long time MMO player and i have that perception drilled in that if someone goes down its because either they did something stupid or the party did something stupid like pull too many. Still i had rather hopex that minions or conditions would be viable. To me that is a necromancer after all.
