Hello, i’m returning after a long break and decided to play my necro again, but after lurking around the forums apparently berserker isn’t the optimal gear PVE-wise anymore?

I want to know what stats combination people are using nowadays to maximize PVE damage, and also to solo the new HoT champions since apparently necros are really good at it.

Berserker is still, of course, a valid option but nowadays things have changed. Rabid or Dire are valid Condition stats that provides a lot of damage, in my opinion as much as zerk if not even more in some situations.
However Necro shines a lot with a Cavalier/Berserker/Knight stats: you lose a bit of damage but greatly improve your survivability (there are variants with Valkyrie and similar).
Sinister is also a good option for hybrid builds and these days also the new Viper stats seems to provide another alternative.

I suggest you to look for the related builds because stats alone are not particular meaningful.

Berserker or viper/sinister are the options for maximising dps. I haven’t confirmed if Condi reaper can beat zerk reaper yet.

I’m fairly solid with builds, what I’m still confused about is how strong sinister/viper are when compared to berserker, and if I can solo the new HoT champions strictly with offensive stats on the gear.

You should be able to. I ended up using minions and axe for soloing some group hero point stuff. Simply because some of those champs pretty much one shot you if you get close (scaled for groups). Its pretty faceroll if you just adapt your utilities and weapons. No need to change gear.

I’m leveling a new necro to 80 since I’m tired of the limited charr skins, guess I’ll try my luck with sinister first and see how it goes.
