Scepter/dagger and especially axe/focus need the reaper Gs buff treatment. They don’t do enough damage and can’t stand on their own. Scepter/dagger needs more damage (preferably through torment on auto, or scepter 3 and another bleed on enfeebling blood), and more lf gen (on dagger 4 or 5). Axe needs a rework on the auto, 900 range, and a damage buff. Focus 4 needs a travel time reduction, and focus 5 needs a big cast time reduction. Buffing some of these weapons will give necros more options at range to go with the new melee weapons.

Necros don’t have reflects, invulns, vigor, blocks,

Sceptre and warhorn with carrion in reaper is fine.

I recall Robert Gee mentioning he took some notes for improving both Scepter and Axe, but never said as to when these improvement will go live. Hopefully, they can be implemented before BWE3 or maybe it will arrive in as part of a “Feature Pack” update when Heart of Thorns releases?

I really suspect (hope) a big balance patch this tuesday. From what I recall, Robert said he couldn’t put his changes in the next patch (but that was one patch ago) + the devs did mention some balancing of elementalist coming. Also, that was their only window before this beta week-end starts, with all the work it brings to them.

So yes, next tuesday, D/D OP-ness gone, necromancer build viability increased!

I think the wording was “I cannot put it in next patch as that patch is mostly bugfixes, but they should go live when we do out next balance patch”. So, if we DO get a balance patch on tuesday, the changes (or at least some of them) should be there. Might also explain why there has been no post of RG this weekend…maybe he is busy (crosses fingers).

Although, if the changes go live and do not contain “Axe is now 900 range”, I’ll be a sad panda… Axe being 900 range has had to happen for like 3 years now. Even freaking THIEVES have 900 range on S-bow and Pistols. And seriously, for everything you might want to fight at range or just fight at range for convenience or because it is required (Thaumanova Anomaly, Province Metrica Boss, Lupi, Bosses with burning/poison Auras …), 600 range is bad. Either still in the damaging auras or even their melee cleave, or leaving you way less time to react than any other class has.
