Quit this game a while back because, after HoT, when the meta got really bad…power necros were in the toilet. Worst of the worst.

Then A. Net buffed condi necros and I’d pretty much had enough. Scepter doesn’t need any help at all. Dagger/Greatsword/Axe/Power builds in general are more or less unusable once people start running standard meta builds. It seems like it’s been this way for months. Years? Maybe years.

I briefly got excited and thought the issue had been addressed, but after a day or so of PvP my MMR threw me into the meta-only matches.

Any chance they’ll ever address this or is it pretty hopeless? Right now my options are fight by flailing around a little Harry Potter DoT wand (Sorry, not my thing) or be completely useless to my team.

Wish there was some way to PvP without these meta builds. Absurdly overpowered, cookie cutter stuff. Pretty frustrating.

Runes are vamp runes or soldier depending on opponent team.
Pretty good 1v1 can kill most build or at least stalemate, also pretty good in teamfights.

I run a power build in wvw but I’ve never gotten one to work in spvp. None of the amulets give me the stat mix I would want, but if I had to run a power build in spvp, I might consider something like:

Here’s what I run for power necro. (I run condi now, but I’ve been playing power for months and got bored..) Imo, necro staff is useless on a power build, and the range is not all that necessary. NCSY fixes the need for unblockable interrupts.

Edit: An afterthought really, but the meta builds are for newbies trying to gain a place in PvP. Good players make their own builds. And good players don’t limit themselves to what they like to play. Personally, I gain my kicks from bashing ppl’s heads in in PvP, so it doesn’t really matter to me what my build is. As long as it works.

Pretty similar to what I’m using.

I like the weakness, burst of might and stun break of YaAW over the unblockable of NCSY, though. Also hate the passive effect of Plague Signet, so I use Suffer. Always seem to get a chill or cripple from nowhere when I’m trying to get to a point, lol. It is better in 1v1 scenarios though.

Sigil of Rage is kinda gimicky but I like how it makes the axe set work. IE what it should work like normally. I seem to be able to camp dagger and reaper shroud long enough, so when ever I switch to axe it triggers.

The honest answer is no. Game is so in favor of condition damage that there is no reason to play power. Sure you can beat people you are better at with it. That shouldnt be part of the discussion I can beat people with a Spirit Weapon guardian if there bad enough but why would I want to? There is no extra reward for doing it the hard way plus its unfair to pvp teammates to play something so much weaker then the meta condi builds.

Condi meta amuses me, i just run MM Reaper and i have absolutely no issues

Power reaper is viable for solo q. When revenant receives its damage nerfs if might even be worth a shot in tournament play.
