Should Feast of Corruption be buffed?
it should give more life force not do more damage.
Just needs to give more LF
Wouldn’t turning it into a Burst skill give it similar potential to the Longbow in Ranger Dungeon Runs? (Where it is used as the Entry Burst?)
Anyone knows why this skill interrupt other skill before it instead of queue up in the chain?
The perfect buff
Feast of Corruption
Could strike for a portion of total condition damage applied to target.
Like 7% of condition damage, instantly.

I think it should just apply a condition to before the life force calculation & damage is done. Vulnerability as a cover condition and damage booster or immobilize as a snare and a condition that is difficult to aim for. I thought about fear, it could work but I’m not sure.

You have a Power-based skill on a Condition-based weapon.
If the intention is for this skill to be some form of burst, shouldn’t the damage be buffed?
It definitely should. I really like the idea of the skill, mixing some direct damage that is tied to your conditions into your setup, maybe as some sort of finisher. You load something up with conditions then use this to do some good burst.
But it needs higher base damage (and maybe higher scaling aswell) for that, so that it does reasonable damage even with rabid or carrion gear.
Actually, damage increase per condition and LF could be buffed aswell. To something like 8%% LF per condition and 10% damage, but with a higher cooldown.

Feast of Corruption
Apply 1 stack of bleed (8s) onto the target and gain Life Force (5%) for each unique condition the target is suffering from.
Just needs to give more LF
Preferably some life force not reliant on conditions.
They could always make it like GW1 and have it life steal in an AOE for each condition targets in that AOE are suffering from!
Something like:
Feast of Corruption
Steal 226 (0.05) life from enemies in target area. Steal an additional 56 (0.01) from each enemy for each unique condition they are suffering from. Gain 5% Life Force for each foe affected by this skill.
Number of Targets: 5
Range: 900
Cast Time: 1s
Cooldown: 15s
I like that idea too!
Well I wish it were buffed – I was playing around in pvp with signet of spite and a power build – the highest this ever hit was for just under 4k. I would love to see Necros get more of a combo that needs some sort of set up and actually has high rewards for doing it.

vulnerability, weakness, torment, immobilize or blind would be best i think
How would increasing Life Force make this any more viable offensively?
How would increasing Life Force make this any more viable offensively?
It wouldn’t. The defense is the problem with the build, though.
Eagle runes + Close To Death / Signet Of Spite + Feast Of Corruption. I hit 9k on an Engi last night and insta-downed him from about 50% health by using this combo (WvW). It can hit some very high numbers you just have to use it under the proper conditions to get the most out of it.

Arenanet is fond of making hybrid weapons, which end up being weaker weapons with kitten skills.
Look at the ranger mainhand axe for example, used only in condi builds but its autoattack is a power based (and miserably weak) autoattack. Or the mesmer scepter. or the Ranger shortbow ( a weapon with low coefficients on everythign since it applies both conditions and has a small power component).
Thieves’ leaping death blossom on dagger/dagger ( a power weapon) is another example.
The sad thing is if they had not had the terrible idea of splitting condi damage from power, all these weaponsets and skills would work much better,

With full Zerker and scholar rules, 6 conditions on a target, this skill only does around 4625 critical on foes (tested on golems)
Considering the maximum use of this skill demands so much dedication, just for 4.5k dmg, shouldn’t it be buffed so that it would at least be a viable burst in a Necromancer DPS rotation?
Right now the tooltip says it deals 893 damage +8% per condition. Come on! With 6 conditions, that only raises it to a 1321 damage skill, which is just third autoattack on other classes, except this is on a 10s cooldown and requires setup from conditions!
The base damage should at least be raised to something like 2000. This way, if you have 6 conditions on a foe, its secondary effect raises the damage to 2900, making it much, MUCH more appropriate for a burst.
Should this skill be buffed? I think so. It needs twice the base damage it currently has.
Scepter would still not be viable for power necros. Rather than a blanket increase in life force gain, I would prefer it to have more utility/allow for interesting gameplay. Say it should in addition to what it does now increase the remaining duration of all the conditions on the target by ? seconds (if it hits), remove/corrupt a boon i the target has more/less than ? conditions on them or grant a stack of might for each condition on the target.

Anet logic: Would, with the combination of aoe condition application and epidemic, make condition builds too powerful, allowing them to better tank damage and let the conditions tick.
Really it tries to do 2 things, and it does neither of them well:
1. it’s a direct damage finisher, so you can down people you’ve gotten low
2. it’s LF generation.
As for 2, 3% every 10" is pathetic, and there’s no other LF generation on scepter. You could run warhorn offhand of course, but that’s gonna leave you weaker against condis and take away your only source of weakness.
As for 1, the 8% scaling isn’t very much on carrion or rabid gear. Even if you use it right after signet of spite, you might get a 2k crit, that’s all. If you’re trying to give someone in condi gear a physical damage skill, you can’t make it scale on power, otherwise they’ll still hit like a wet tissue. They could increase the scaling (something like 30% per condition would make it hit pretty kitten carrion gear), but then you’d be giving zerker necros 10k crits, not sure that’s a great idea either!
Really, the only way to fix it is to make it conditional. Do damage, gain LF, but also if target has less than X condis gain extra life force, if target has X or more do extra damage. Simples. And it would make sense to make the bonus damage a flat amount and not have it scale with power, so it would actually be useful for conditionmancers without letting powermancers 1-shot people!

why do you say that as if high base damage and scaling are mutually exclusive?

Letting it scale with both many conditions and few conditions just makes the skill incredibly spammy.
basically no matter in what state the enemy is, just throw feast on him/her and you get something useful, either damage or LF.
Also, it should scale at least a little bit, so that carrion necromancers get some use out of it too.
So far i like rising dusks idea with the lifesteal the most.

Alright, so… Feast of corruption… Is actually pretty good, just learn to use it right… Heh. It can do as much if not more than Firegrab on ele.

Only problem is that “using it right” involves forsaking dealing decent damage except with that skill. Even in full Zerker, half the damage the Necro Scepter 1 and 2 skills deal is from the conditions, and that’s assuming 0 condition damage!

Honestly, you’ll need 6 in curses for scepter to do a power role with XIII and the grandmaster (2% per condition on foe…) Which stacks with the 8% per condition on foe damage… So… I get the point, yet I use it so well.. (XD) yet others have such a hard time with it.
