This is the intro for a movie I’m working on focusing on 1v1s against thieves. I’ll put my thoughts on the matchup later when I have more time.

The full movie will either be entertainment style like the intro or a mixture of entertainment and commentary. Commentary requires a good bit more work, however.

Nice work, you look like you have a very similar play style as my own. Same trees and points spread, same utilities outside of elite. I guess the perma blind with plague is still pretty great even with a power focused build, I can see why you use it. What traits do you use in your setup?

Nice video! I use almost the same tree, except the 10 points to get Greater Marks and Lich instead of Plague. I might give Plague a try though.

I quite enjoyed 1:52-1:57 as well, nice ending touch haha

I LOVED your beta videos. I was afraid you left the game after a hiatus of not releasing anything!

My traits typically look something like this, although I swap things in and out at times. In WvW I use the falling damage trait, for example. With the staff I might take 10% extra damage and life force for marks. I’ll probably be switching to axe and dagger mainhands though. The staff is nice, but the cooldown length is a big turn off.

I find Plague Form to be more useful in more situations than Lich Form. It helps when being focused by multiple people and it can also be used for group support (peeling for a friend who is being focused). It’s still useful for 1v1s as well.

Popping Lich Form in a group pvp enviroment can be risky as it makes you a huge target.

Well, necro definitely can’t be classified as an easy class to do well with. I lose my fair share of 1v1s as well.

i found it very entertaining to watch. Would you mind telling on what kind of gear you are focusing with a power build ? For example, do you stack toughness with your gear ?

Very nice video, but may I ask you about mesmers ?, for me it’s the hardest class to beat in 1v1 :|

Mesmers- if you build power/crit.

Their power is in numbers and you do more single tar DMg. To take them you need to root the main target pop wells and they will likely get out of it but you will destroy all the mirrors. They will be on cool down as will some of your spells but you still do a ton of DMg if you stay on target.

Well, a good mesmer will never stay more than 1 sec on your wells : tp / swap with clones, plus they can stay stealth for a good amount of time :/

During this time you get pwned by the clones :/
