Slowly losing our identity?
It’s even worse when you realise that the well of precognition is down right better then our wells combined . I mean burst, defense, support in one well, that’s just not fair.
This starting to feel like the Paragons in the 1st Guildwars all over again.
It’s also nice to notice that continuum split and shift is just a better version of spectral walk and recal.
And they get a better Spectral Walk as a shatter…
I understand the concern. But im pretty hyped about chrono so this doesnt bother me so much. Will probably start playing mes again.
Yeah fudge necro, I have had enough. If I should ever return to Necro they better fart glitter at the launch of HoT!!!

Well its nice that mesmer gets this stuff but that doesn’t bold well for the necromancer since the traits and skill they have can already be easily outshine by other classes.
Thats not exactly a new problem for necros though is it?
I’m depressed more and more when i look at what they give to other classes and don’t to us.
Actually the necro is the more useless class ever appeared in GW2.
We have find a little glory with the advent of Condition Meta in spvp, but then every other classes find that they also can deal condition damage, frequently more condition damage than the necromancer (engi for example).
Then we’re actually without a role, without a image that reflect us. We’re always been the class with high hp that use conditions, die slowly and kill slowly. And it can be good, but acually even more classes can deal better condition damage, survive better (because they have different skills to evade the damage and we don’t have one) and we die very quickly because the enemy can deal so much damage in direct and condi build that make us unable to survive or escape, because we haven’t skills to survive or escape from a combat.
If 4 enemy focus on a bunker warrior, he can survive for 13 sec jus with Immunity skills, then they have to skill he’s high amount of hp, toughness and healing.
If 3 enemy focus on a necromancer, if the necromancer haven’t already the DS bar full he can’t neither active it and if the DS bar is full he can survive for almost 4 seconds before a dps group strip away the DS from he. Then kill the necromancer is more easy than kill a warrior. We have only Fear and protection, but the enemy can use a breakstun or stability to evade our fear and protection reduce by 33% the damage, but all alone isn’t good enough to make us survive. Also because without the DS our damage is very very very low (you can use the dagger but it’s not very good in spvp or in wvw).
-Warrior is still the brainless fighter with high damage. And now is able to don’t die.
-Mesmer is still the class that make you mad to be killed.
-Ele is still the hybrid class that can do everything with a DD build and deal high damage with the staff
-Ranger is still the long range fighter that kill the enemy before he come to deal damage (more or less) and fight with his pet to deal even more damage
-Thief is still the hiding finger in the… that make you speak bad words when you drop dead in 3 sec while you’re running in www or when you flee away from the mid in spvp
-Guardian is still the bunker support that everyone want, but that can reach high damage if he want
-Engi is still… I don’t know what ANet want to do… but it’s still it!
We’re no more what we’re planned to be.
Our class is a class without a real identity.
I read that article and thought that Alacrity for mesmer would become better with Necro.

Engi is basically the jack of all trade class even though Anet say they didn’t want that or care to admit to it. The options of skills that this class alone have is high.

And our place at the bottom remains secure.

Hey guys, I know its rough right now, and I will admit I was very disturbed when I saw the post for mesmers.
I want mesmers to have a spot, I don’t begrudge them a great class. I am just on the side of hoping for all classes to have that spot. Especially Necro.
There isnt much to be done. Either the necro will get viable skills just like mesmer did, putting them back into each area of the game for viability.
Or we will all be playing some other class. I hope not, I truly love Necro and always have since GW1…
The problem with necromancer is not that we won’t get good skills.
I’m sure that anet has dreamed up fantastic skills for necromancer.
The problem is that the new skills DoNT MATTER.
So long as there is no endurance regen, disengages, and stability access is weak, we are stuck taking 2 stun breakers as utility. This leaves no room for new skills, let alone the ability to trait up the new skills.
I’m sure we will get access to skills from another profession also, no need to worry. This seems to be the entire point of specializations anyways.
Seriously? Wells aren’t all that special, and never have been. They’re pulsing AoEs. That’s it. And frankly, Null Field had effectively outmoded both Well of Power and Well of Suffering years ago.
Kind of too bad about Spectral Walk’s recall effect getting spread about. But then, I suspect that Continuum Split won’t have nearly as long of a duration as the current Spectral Walk, since it seems to act as a sort of pseudo-invulnerability. (5s, tops.)
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.
Yeah, this thing looks pretty kittening disgusting.
Well Of Precognition
They only previewed one single well and that alone sounds really overpowered.
But hey, im sure theyre not going to overdo it. Surely the long cooldown (which can be countered with the new class mechanic) will balance it. /sarcasm.
Not only that, but so far i had the hope that the new specialisations werent just outright superior to normal lines (despite the name ‘Elite-specialisation’). This really seems to not be the case.

I dont want other classes’ skills. I want necro-style skills/traits that are actually good. To FINALLY get things necro was supposed have. Like good boon rip for example. Or awesome wells. But no, it seems like the only way we get awesome necro skills is when anet decides to give them to a different class.

Glamour bomb mesmer was WvW meta before us it used to be GWEM only condition spec you would welcome in massive fights , they removed it from base mesmer and revamped it it doesn’t look as strong tough. Like someone mentioned it doesn’t matter what we get as long no core fixes are made, I do expects shouts and defiance bar now.
The Dhuumfire thread
They made it clear they were mixing up the skill types between the specialisations. So why not wait until the Necro specialisation is revealed to see what skill type we get instead of creating another doomsday thread.
Would the Mesmer be less unique if Thief got access to Glamours or Mantras?
Wells are not remotely necro-only. They could have called them whatever they want, wells are simply (now) ground-targeted AoE abilities that leave pulsing effects for a few seconds after casting. This isn’t unique to Necromancers by any means.
Also, I’m more and more getting the feeling that we could get shouts (a great way to reintroduce Orders, we know someone is getting shouts and it most likely won’t be any of the 3 who already have shouts, and we’re one of the better professions to get it), which could be a really good addition as far as getting group utility is concerned.

The class itself already have problems and people trying to find out what direction is the class going in. Some of us already experience this trend in the past guild wars games. if you don’t know what happen to the paragon class in the 1st guildwars then I honestly doubt you would understand how some of us is feeling right now.
The clkitten up being the least played class for the game because it was neglected and ended up with nerfs that it didn’t deserve. Instead of them trying to rework the class so it can be use as much as other classes. It ended up being a lot of players mule to hold and transfer items off of. I want this class not to end up the same way. I’ll wait and see but if they dont change and fix trait line to be better then having a new weapon and skills to be use wont mean anything.

Well yea, Wells isnt necro only stuff I’ll admit. But the way it being handle right now is making people move away from the class a bit further than intended.
I think it is interesting to complain about losing idenity when every complaint about the necro boils down into wanting it to be like every other class.
I don’t want to make it like all the other classes.
Ele is different from warrior and warrior is different from engi and engi isn’t the same as thief. But they’re viable in spvp, www and pve. Good class for all.
I only want that no one want to make me change my class when i enter a dungeon or go in spvp why I’m a necromancer.

Start by blocking those people. Improves the overall experience.
Necromancer actually is the worst choice for do spvp and dungeon. expecially dungeon.
We’re good only in www.
In pve we can deal damage, but everyone can do better. In spvp all the other classes can do really better damage (direct or condi)and with lesser problems.
That don’t make us unplayable, we can still deal damage and also we can kill some enemy in spvp, but if you have to choice between a necromancer and another classes with the same kind of build you will always choice the other classes.

This. We all knew that classes will get new utilities from already existing categories. People also exaggerate when it comes to the uniqueness of Wells. Mesmer already had Glamours (which basically got shafted in favour for the new skills, really…). Guardians got Symbols and Consecrations etc. pp. No reason to get hung up. Although we don’t have any numbers, the described skills sound different enough from existing ones even though their might be similarities. I also believe that the new buff will be way more important than the having Wells. Additionally, Mesmers will still play differently and will most likely remain squishier than Necromancers.
I also agree that Necros – along with Thieves – are the best candidates for Shouts. And Shouts in combination with the GS might bring the group utility and cleave damage Necros need. Be patient. Wait untill you know the whole story – meaning all elite specializations.

Arenanet just translated old Necro to new Necro keeping the same crippling issues and design paradigm. Necromancer’s only real hope is for PvE to be worked over hard.
I don’t mean to derail your thread but I want to share some amusement. 95% of the 1500 hours I’ve logged into this game has been as Engineer. I opened the Necromancer forum by mistake. I came into this thread because this is a thing that Engineers talk often about themselves and I was curious about how Necro players could possibly feel such a thing. Then I stumbled onto this post.
[lots of stuff omitted]

You have no idea how bitterly I am laughing right now. Non-Engineer players don’t even have a general grasp at what we’re doing. It’s like meeting your ex-girlfriend’s husband at a bar and he’s complaining about her nagging. You want to say things like “Now you know how I felt!” and “I’m sorry for your loss.” and “At least you’re married” but all you can do is laugh.
Bitterly.
That said, I finally got my Necro to 80 a few days ago and while I’m pretty bad at it still, it’s quite fun.
