also a debuff of shroud nec and a buff of non shroud nec would be appreciated. Sometimes as a non shroud there isn’t much of a choice left.
blood gm 2/3 are shroud
soul repeaing gm 3/3 are shroud

I agree. Necros do not need a buff. We have very hard counters, but can also compete in the meta.

I think we’re good where we are at right now, and the other “OP” classes just need to be tuned down a bit, and then the thief and warrior retuned (buffed) to be able to compete.

who ever said they did? necro is in a great place right now: pretty much all their weapons are viable, their elite spec is great, and base necro is even viable. not only that, but they probably have more decent builds than any other profession. at the same time, the class is balanced and it doesn’t need a nerf either. necro is working atm, don’t change a thing.

there are 4 other specializations that don’t revolve around shroud. not only that, but your original assessment isn’t even accurate. i agree that soul reaping is a spec primarily focused around buffing shroud. blood magic, however, is more about survivability and team support than actually helping shroud. there are only three blood traits that are shroud-based: life from death, transfusion and unholy martyr.

and for the traits that do help shroud, death shroud is our main source of sustain, so it makes sense that a specialization built around that would include a few traits to buff the team support that shroud offers.

Reaper does not need buffs. Core necro does. Cause majority of fixes to necro issues are in reaper spec. Base necro still suffers from multiple issues:

1. horrible ds (compared to reaper shroud)
2. cc ragdoll
3. lacking good melee cleave
4. slow casting and/or horrid cooldown on too much stuff
5. Weak combo play (again reaper brings that up by a lot, but not base necro).
6. Weaker condi play (no damage on chill, dhummfire useless).

Necro does not need buff, it only need to be able to buff (support) it’s teammates. With the reaper spec or not, the necromancer is still the only profession that give nothing to it’s party except dps. It’s what cripple the necromancer in a lot of area in game.

So yeah, the necromancer is ok as a selfish profession in 1v1 but the necromancer fall far behind any other profession when it come to teamplay.

We see a lot of elementalist complaining that their spec are to focused on support but seriously, that’s what’s making them one of the very best profession in this game. Support via boons allow them to survive as well as doing ton of damage. But that also allow them to help their ally to survive and do ton of damage as well. In this regard the nocromancer is just to selfish, tied to specific spec for any self support, and totally ridiculous when it come to ally support since you would need a whole team in nomad gear to see an increase in dps from Vampiric aura

No core profession should be balanced around an optional elite specialization.

This is not nearly enough to compete with any other profession in game for a slot in a party outside of wvw I guess. which mean that nothing changed for the necromancer.

No core profession should be balanced around an optional elite specialization.

I’d like to see some improvements in our matchup vs scrapper on condi, because scrapper auto wins against condi Necros.
Curses could use some improvements. It doesn’t see very much usage anymore.
Base Necro needs a lot of work, because base necro is just lol now.

Dont think Necro/Reaper needs a buff either but some of our Weapons do, we got a Weapon in HoT that everyone looked forward to but due to cast-times no1 uses outside PvE cause u cant hit anything…

GS needs buff for sure (the AA is a joke, really Devs wtf did u test internally ? hitting afk Anet personal)

Except that BiP is kitten (might duration not long enough and, at least in pve, you should be easily mightcapped anyway) and cpc makes power necros cry because of the weakness.
Where’s our +150 Condition Damage for the party trait, kittenmit.
What would also be interesting imo would be skills/traits which buff the party in various ways the lower the HP of the target is. This way we would have unique support for the party while sticking kind of to the theme of the necro. Would likely be difficult to balance, though.

^ This. And also, not many people are asking for necro buffs anymore so idk what you are crying about. Reaper brought necro into balanced gameplay for the first time since betas, and core necro hasn’t changed at all minus some minor bug fixes we’ve had for 3 years. If any part of necro needs a buff it’s core, but even then no one is crying about how bad off they are anymore. This whole thread seems to just be an excuse for everyone who dies to a necro to whine about it.

Base necro might need some QoL, but nothing major. Its issues stem largely from a lack of stability for what are a lot of channeled abilities; otherwise it has an amazing counter-pick game and can really shut out difficult-to-beat builds. Making it not have such binary encounters for consistency’s sake is the best move here, even if at the cost of making some tweaks downwards in power if they nerfed some of the excessive builds that it counters as a consequence.

Reaper is very solid. Of the new elite specs and overall meta use, it performs well but not excessively. I’d argue the spec is pretty balanced for the most part, and it’s just a lot of the new ones are completely busted overpowered more than anything.

I dont think that focus or offhand dagger are really viable. Even condi builds take warhorn over those two…

And it wouldnt even be hard to make them more viable just some lf generation on offhand dagger and a casttime reduction on focus 5 would work wonders for those weapon in pvp.

Focus i see only used in pve because of reapers touch. Spinal shivers is as useless in pve as it is in pvp due the casttime (which is kinda sad with a shorter casttime spinal shivers could be so useful in pvp). And given the fact that getting 25 vul stacks on mobs is now so easy i am not sure if the little extra damage from focus 4 is worth taking over the extra cc warhorn provides. And since you always take gs on a power reaper build you only have one offhand slot. But then again i dont really care/know much about pve but warhorn seems so much more useful then focus is.

Ok dagger offhand i can see being viable in a condi pve build but only because LF isnt really an issue in pve. Heck it is even kinda viable in pvp situations if you dont really need much lf generation (like in wvw). I still want some lf generation on it after all it is the only necro weapon that doesnt have any lf generation, which is a big flaw in my opinion (which is probably the reason why i even mentioned it).

And yeah good that you mentioned axe as weak, i kinda forgot about it since i dont like the weapon much.

I dont know what u guys think but i would like to see GS auto attack to be a bit faster because come on.. until i land the 3rd hit it will become night lol. Anyways in overall i think the reaper is GOOD. Not OP not UP just fine.
