They should give reaper a trait called “Death’s Pace” that GREATLY reduces the duration of slow/chill/cripple/immob by like 66%. That’d help swallow the slowness!

I too am concerned about the slow GS attack & skill cast time, it might make us easier to interrupt and dodge.
They did mention that this specialization is more focused on group combat than solo combat. More people means less ability to dodge the necros slower attacks. It might not be too bad depending on the details.
Interrupt, dodge and blind could become a big problem for us. With the info we have now it looks like we can be countered pretty easily.
I’m thinking it won’t be too bad but lockdown mesmer with be an extremely hard counter to us

Sadly enough – especially with the cast time and chill theme it makes the spec absolutely incompetent for WvW … chill is non existent and interrupts are on mass…

Well interrupts may be less of an issue if we really get a defiance bar. And since blinds seem to work on the defiance bar as well those may also not a big problem.
So it would only be dodges, blocks, invulnerabilites etc.
I have this horrible feeling of dread welling up inside that the necro and now reaper will continue to have no real place in the meta unless they dazzle us with something amazing in the video tomorrow. The general susceptibility to cc the necro has to deal with will be far worse being always in melee range unless most of those shouts count as a stun-breakers and give significant stab or something along the lines of LF=Defiance.
With quickness becoming a more accessible boon it might not be too terrible (crosses fingers)

Oddly enough, the last time they made fear plus another skill powerful (Dhumfire & Bleed) it became so devastating that the player base had tantrums and we got nerfed.
Here’s to hoping that this time around it works out for us, or at the very least everyone else is so enthralled with being a Revenant that they don’t notice we can kill people.
