So this Dhuumfire nerf...
Condition builds still have no other option which weighs up to 30/20/0/0/20
How not? i would prefer to get more survivability in a condition build than wasting 30 points in Spite for a 1k damage burning every 10 sec.
They will rework the trait with the next patch. This is more or less a hotfix for the Pax toruney. If you want to see the dev post stating that, look in the pvp subforum.

Just like the soloQ is on the horizon? Never trust an aNet dev to hold to their word, more than likely their definition of rework, is to nerf terror another 17%, take burning out completely, remove torment from DS, increase DS degeneration by 6%, and lower doom duration to 1 second.

you forgot to say corrupt skills will flip only 1 boon when enemy’s hp are < 25%, DS cooldown 40 seconds (it’s anotha healthabar!!!1oneoneone) , remove any swiftness buff and delete enurance. Becouse necro’s mobility is OP, i have to move too much to catch and killem.
at this point i would like to see dhuumfire removed from the game. i feel like i am forced into this build just because dhuumfire is too strong not to take. also other traits are being nerfed because of dhuumfire leaving people who do not want to take it weaker for no reason. remove burning and return terror back to its previous state. give us a trait that gives vigor or swiftness for 5 seconds or something lol.

Ok, just a thought, if Dhuumfire was replaced with something like Torment on crit, would people still go for 30/20/0/0/20 instead of to 0/20/20/0/30 or 0/30/20/0/20.
Because if Dhuumfire gets reworked to something that still benefits condy builds as well as hybrids, i think i would still go for 30 in spite for the Condition Duration, granted the new GM trait is worth it’s weight.

That’s pretty much what I’d expect, the condition duration scales too well especially for getting thhe guaranteed econd tick of terror from 100% fear duration.
That and we are severely lacking in other options tbh; no reason to go into BM unless you want a well build, no reason to go into DM unless you want a minion build. If they did remove dhuumfire then whatever they replaced it with would have to be pretty bad to consider not going the full 30pts into spite
If they want Spite to synergise with condition builds why don’t they move all the staff traits from Death and SR to it? And merge the FOUR different staff-enhancing traits into two while they’re at it (merge Soul Marks and Staff Mastery and put them in t1, and merge Spiteful Marks and Greater Marks and put it in t2 – or better yet give Marks the default radius of Greater Marks and put unblockable in Spiteful Marks).
This solution is quite elegant because Staff 1 and 4 do decent direct damage, in addition to the condition damage of the other staff skills, so it would work very in a hybrid power/condition build without the need for Precision to proc the “on crit” condition procs of Curses (and Dhuumfire). Also, SR VII and Blood III also benefit, so it woulkd give Spite some synergy with those other trait lines.

why would you even have to replace it? i remember when people hardly went into spite for condition pvp builds unless they were using a chill build or wanted some might stacking. dhuumfire was for sure too drastic of a change.
WAS A DAMAGE BUFF REALLY WHAT WE NEEDED????
WAS A DAMAGE BUFF REALLY WHAT WE NEEDED????
Yes since I still sometimes get told: “No we don’t want you in our group we want a dps class”
This is very dishearthening considering the amount of damage I know I put out

well that is just ignorance on their part and you know it. sad that we need something over the top for people to see our dmg potential. all that really matter are the facts not what ignorant people think.
(i cant really speak from a pve pov as i dont pve much anymore)

Yeah… no. I think the 20 in SR is really overrated. I run 30/30/0/10/0 in PvE/WvW (the 10 was in DM until greater marks got moved) and 30/0/20/15/5 in SPvP (granted, that’s a minionmancer condition build). The critical damage and life force capacity from SR are junk (if you’re using scepter/dagger and staff like any sensible condition necro), and all you’re really getting from that 20 points for a condition build is Master of Terror.
But then, I don’t see the obsession with Terror and extra seconds of fear, anyway. I guess I do too many dungeons where fear is useless. Still, wasting all those stats in SR just for slightly longer fear and an extra Terror tick… not worth it IMO.
In any case, whatever merits the 30/20/0/0/20 build may have, I don’t think you can say that it’s the ONLY worthwhile condition build…

Yes people are stupid and that makes us all sad

Because 30-20-20 is for PvP, and actually there is no “worthwhile” PvE condition build. If you ain’t power zerking in PvE your only hurting yourself and your group. Real talk!

I think we’ll find the meta shift such that we’ll feel required to run 30 points into Soul Reaping just to get the 3 seconds of stability. That is, until they nerf this super OP CC-chaining. It’s completely kitty.

Well that’s just BS right there. Sounds like the talk of someone who plays 1 mesmer 4 warriors CoF all the time…
Try condition necro in high level fractals and you’ll see some wonders
all you’re really getting from that 20 points for a condition build is Master of Terror.
The best trait for going 20 in SR is Last Grasp, its easily worth 2000 health or more when getting bursted. At 20,000 health the 20% more Life Force is also worth about 4000 health worth of Death Shroud as well. Even with degen, that’s about 4 more seconds of being alive in DS, 5 with Vital Persistence, can make a big difference.
The new dhuumfire is worth less than 10% more dps, single target only. It’s nothing special, just a better reason than we have ever had before to go into expertise, which is where the real damage is coming from. Before there was nothing, so we didn’t do it. Now there’s one useful trait for condi builds in the whole line, but since blood and death do very, very little to help with our role in pvp, it’s our only real spec.
