Something to think about?
So who is the person in charge of overseeing the necromancer forums? And how do we get ahold of said person?
There isn’t one, and you don’t.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.
This dev asked for videos of necro being OP and got nothing. Yet necro was nerfed.
SLow clap for this magnificent job.
To me, Anet is beginning to look like SOE did with SWG.
I think part of the problem is the toxicity of gaming forums in general, and recently this forum in particular.
Coming from a development background, one where the product I work on has a forum, you find that usually only the vocal minority voice their concerns, and usually without understanding the larger picture.
For a game however, the forum is the only means of communication between those developing and those playing. If we want more developer communication here, there will need to be a lot less of the constant negativity (as fun as it is for some people), less calling dev’s out as being incompetent, less throwing up of hands and claiming “ANET IZ THA DEBIL”.
Personally I think we need to open up the question to the devs that monitor the forum and ask what kind of feedback is useful, what form the feedback should take. An open dialogue will be a lot more productive than knee-jerk accusation and recriminations.
Agree with you Godless. No communication is bad, good communication goes a long way, excellent communication is, well, excellent. I personally wouldn’t want to get thousands of PM’s that are lacking in details, or nerf crys etc. nor would I want to shift though as many posts that ooze negativity.
Having a running thread by Anet that only they can post in on each forum to keep the community updated on ideas, whats being looked at, whats been fixed internally and waiting to go live etc would be nice.

That is one of the reasons I started that thread in SPvP. Communication, plans for future balance patches, metas they like or don’t like, we could really use that…
I will just add one comment about the last two posts.
Communication is a two way street. If the devs want open, honest, considered communication then it must also flow in reverse. Too often we have seen “deception” and half truths by omission and design from the devs in the past and at times the neglect of player concerns get by them only shows contempt for their paying customers.
What goes round comes round. And i agree it is time for a quantum shift in attitude…both ways.

First bugcompilation.
Second one.
Then look at how Spiteful talisman got fixed.
That said i want what you want but its not looking good.
The issue is, the necro forums will argue to buff necros, the warrior forums will argue to buff warriors, etc.
There are probably not enough people to monitor all the threads in all the class forums, and none of the threads will be objective.
The sPvP forums will also not be objective at all as everyone wants their own class to be the most needed, most powerful etc, and they only ever think about how they are going to be attacked by, for example, necros with condition pressure and hard CC. They rarely think about how good it’d be for their own team to have someone able to do that, and how they could take best advantage of it.
It’s also entirely focused on small team PvP. So discussions dismiss where the necro fits in dungeon and PvE content, or how it works in large scale WvW.
This issue seems to me to come down to the way the forums are separated out. A general balance forum might be a good idea, but it would need fairly strong moderation and a mature player base to keep the threads positive instead of ending up as further accusations, petty name calling, and calls for L2P.
As it stands we can’t have one set of skills for all three areas of the game, and then have three or four different places with different parts of the community in each place discussing this same set of skills, how to use them and how to balance them between all eight classes.

lol
Why do you laugh Gnat? I think I have a legitimate question as to who would be best to speak with in terms of necromancer issues.

Sublime.
I’m not laughing at the notion of looking for who to talk to, I’m laughing at the notion of people still expecting any kind of meaningful feedback about PvE content in general (Colin’s post does not address the fundamental issues that plague the content).
I’m sorry, I don’t have malicious intent. At this point, with all the night and day changes made to Necros in the past month I’m not expecting anything meaningful for us until they figure out what we are useful for in PvE.
