Spectral Grasp bug or just me failing?
Yeah, a few of our projectile skills – like Spectral Grasp and Reaper’s Touch – are so inconsistent and buggy that Anet might aswell update their tooltip to say “Has a high chance of failure”.
There’s more than a few places that look clear, but have no pathing. The best example I can think of is the Silverwastes in the forts. The land above where The Breach pits spawn have some weird interactions with projectiles and pathing in general. (I think it’s all the forts, at least. I know Blue Oasis has eaten many a Dark Path around that area)
The second one is an old and bad problem. I think it’s just how knockbacks work in the game: they don’t work well over longer distances, a lot of things can cut them off prematurely (Slight inclines are the biggest offender, imo). I kind of wish that Spectral Grasp worked like a reverse Dark Path: if it hits, your opponent is teleported to your feet, rather than taking a knockback that pushes them right towards you. But that would ruin the “Pull them across a cliff” secret tech that Spectral Grasp can currently manage.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.
Spectral grasp’s missile is not homing like life blast or even dark path (though both have very different homing properties). It is very susceptible to uneven terrain and ADADA movement (target strafing left and right).
The slightest alteration in the target’s movement direction will veer spectral grasp off path.
You can increase the chances of spectral grasp connecting by crippling or chilling the target first to reduce their strafing capability. You can also walk up closer to the target before using spectral grasp (less missile travel means greater chance of connecting).
Engie pull is not a projectile, and with the unblock its is the most reliable pull ingame which seems to work more than 9/10 times.
The grasp and thief scorpion wire are sadly both projectiles.
Above ~600 range any strafing or dodge/leap or even jumps makes it miscalculate and fly off.
Also, any 1pixel big rock can obstruct it or stop the pulling of target – it is why jumping after firing helps it a bit.
Reflects.
Blind, block.
Random blind/block.
Body block by pet/clone
And worst is the 0% lf if it fails. Overall i dont think it hits 5/10
They need to change all of them to work like magnet. Even if they changed the projectile to travel faster or even home, it’s of no value at its listed range. If it can’t be used reliably outside 600 units what’s the point? I’d just axe them…
