I decided to give it another shot.

The improvements have increased it’s effectiveness from working 20% of the time to 30% of the time. I’d place this utility in the “almost worthless” category. Almost because when it does work it’s great. But most of the time it’s like running around playing with two out of three of your utilities.

Still getting a lot of obstructed messages when you have clear line of sight on flat ground. Still getting a lot of out of range messages when you are well within range.

I honestly fear that a working spectral grasp is what the anet devs have in mind when they claim necromancers to be a profession you can’t escape.

Honestly, I think that was a miscommunication error. He meant to say that necromancers are designed to be a profession that can’t escape.

If so, then they haved nailed it.

I use Spectral Grasp for sPvP all the time, but there’s one thing that I have noticed that really hampers its usefulness:

Spectral Grasp has a hard time chasing anything that’s not on the same level as you.

Aside from this, I think the skill is muuuch, much more useful. I use a perma-chill build with wells, so this skill is awesome for not only another source of chill, but making sure an opponent eats most of the well(s) I put down. I’d say that outside of the elevation issue, the skill works 80% of the time or more, depending on whether or not they are able to dodge.

I also sPvP with spectral grasp. It definitely does not work on different elevations. I just removed that ability and started browsing to see if other people are having the same issue.

This will be a good ability once it is fixed. I also like the perma chill/wells build.

My main problem with S.grasp is that Aegis blocks it.
Good luck grabbing any heavy armors.

what i understand this to mean is that i will stay where i am and my foe will come to me, like that guy in mortal combat. the other day i used it and it pulled me from where I was into a large group of enemy players, the same way dark path does. i do not use this skill anymore.

I too tried Spectral Grasp after the patch and found more times than not you get Obstructed. Altho this is not just related to Spectral Grasp as Corrupt Boon does the same more so when your hitting someone on or hitting them from a keep/tower.

Altho with Spectral Grasp it seems if there is a small bump or blade of grass in the way then it is going to fail. In the end I just use the tried and tested method of hitting them with something, that tends to get them to me quicker than Spectral Grasp does.

while it should be

sometimes pulls your foe to you.. most of the times it will display an obstructed mssg and sporadicly throws yourself into the zerg meatmachine and turning you instantly into a tombstone.

I think it has a lot of value in being able to pull someone off point and then dagger 3 for immobilize, for a free neutralize in sPvP. But yeah, unreliability is a liability. And plus other classes can knock off points better, engi/guard come to mind. But necros have their share of advantages too.

I can see it being more reliable in sPvP since the control points are flat terrain. It’s a nightmare in WvW though. Unusual out of range and obstructed messages are sometimes caused by a person strafing a projectile.

IMO, this ability is far too important to be wasted so many times. Aesthetics is fine, but functionality is more important IMO. It needs to be instant probably.

spectral grasp just doesn’t work in any useful manner or reliability.

it’s great for trolling in wvw where you can try it x times until you maybe succeed to pull something down. other than that it just doesn’t work.

i have to say other NECRO skills similar to this have also problems working like DS teleport skill. it is just not fun. curious enough they seem to work for other classes much better when i’ve tried them.

as far as I can tell it happened because I was standing on a on a wall. I was trying to pull the player (i think mesmer) to the walls so the group of our team standing outside could take him down, didn’t work, instead it pulled me off the wall into the enemy zerg.

android, its a projectile, so they can reflect it with any projectile reflecting ability, the most common in wvw being the mesmer bubble.

i cant say I saw any bubble but for the sake of it lets say there was. now if the reflect ability basically turns it around and pulls me towards an enemy, does that mean that if i hit someone with dark path they will be pulled to me?
