So, I’m sure we all know you can pop walk mid air, and triggering the teleport resets distance fallen as far as the game is concerned. Thus, necros with sufficient skill (and really, it doesn’t take that much) can survive a fall of any length.

I have used this a couple of times as an experiment. It is quite funny (in an evil sort of way) to jump off a cliff tagged up and be the sole survivor of the fall. But is using this method against the ToS?

I would assume not as this use has been around a very long time. However, I don’t want to get banned -_-

Please let me know what ANET’s stance is on this.

It’s been like this since release. I wouldn’t bother with such concerns.
Enjoy better resets and reset-able jumps in Jumping Puzzles or exploring areas no other profession has access to.

All the various fixes to teleport skills have been to prevent users from getting up to places they shouldn’t or around walls. Walk doesn’t have that issue.

As for jumping puzzles, off the top of my head every class has some ability to ease jumping puzzles.
E.G. Ele has a teleport, Eng has it’s rifle #5, Mesmer portals, etc.

Uh, source? Just because it’s not a bug per se, doesn’t mean it’s what the designers intended. Need I remind you that something as ridiculous as Fiery Rush was a thing for almost two years.

Its use is… limited. There are only very few places in the game that would give an advantage to the prepared Necro. Its literally nothing compared to the teleport options of a Thief.

agreed. After they nerved a long time ago the possibility to survive jumps via DS, this one of the few abilities to give necro an edge in niche situations.

The Engineer’s Jump Shot is on a much lower cooldown and is a guaranteed successful jump instead of just a second chance. Just sayin…

Basejumpmancer needs to be a thing.

They took it off death shroud, and now we have it on a 40 second cooldown utility. I am fine with this. Anet seems to be fine with this. Don’t you try to take this from me.

I like being able to sit at the bottom of Rata Sum…
There aren’t that many places where this actually takes the difficulty out of things. I like to think that all of our mobility is vertical mobility, where we are the uncontested champs.

Not the only reason, there are a few ways you can end up not dying, so they put them there just in case. We used to be able to do it just with DS, there are probably videos out there of people fighting the wurms at the bottom in decent sized groups.

One of the devs mentioned this when they nerfed the Deathshoud overflow mechanic – they said they are aware of the ability to use S-walk for this purpose and they have no issue with it.
