Spiteful marks
It won’t ever make sense. Its a +% damage trait to a weapon that isn’t used for direct damage. Axe it and give us something better kthx. Or at least combine it with another staff trait.

Well i use staff in both power and condi builds (acutally i run staff in all my builds…), but you are right giving the marks additional utility instead of damage would be better. I only wanted to start a discussion about that trait.
At a bare minimum it should increase all staff damage, not just marks. Don’t think I’d pick it up even then, but it would be closer to good. Ideally it would be rolled into another trait and we’d be given something else in its place. Not that at this point I trust the something else would be worth taking…

Answer: get rid of it, either by merging it or axing it completely.

Merge with with the Staff Mastery trait. By axing it I mean getting rid of it completely, put something useful there, preferably something that plays with non-damaging conditions we apply, like chill.
Merging it with the staff mastery trait would make sense and put it on the same level as axe training. I’d also agree with the suggestion to make it into a universal damage buff since the staff auto attack is absolutely miserable.
I’d rather see it merged with Greater Marks. That would make the resulting trait actually worth a Master tier.
Greater marks makes marks unblockable and increases their size, it’s already a master tier trait really. Spiteful marks would best be tied in with staff mastery or removed from the game entirely as Bhawb has already stated.

Staff damage needs a buff. May aswell increase base damage on all marks and remove the trait.

Spiteful marks would be somewhat more useful if, as others have said, it increased all staff damage by 10% and not just marks
Staff has the highest base damage modifier for life blast while in death shroud. Right now, axe with axe training makes for the highest damaging life blast due to the damage increase from axe training. If all staff damage were increased by 10% rather than just marks, you could run staff + spiteful “marks” for the hardest hitting life blast combination
I dont know if this would make it worth the master trait but at least it would make it somewhat more desirable in a niche situation
