Does anyone else get this feeling when using a staff for the Necro? Coming from a staff Elementalist i feel a difference. I can notice it the most when i’m in PvP or PvE dungeon trying to get my marks down as fast a possible. Alot of the time, it doesn’t work and the skill will just reset.

No. Staff as necro is fast and easy, unless you are terrible at aiming marks they are really reliable as well.

Other than Mark of Blood and the chill mark, no. The cool downs are way to long on the other marks and the auto attack moves way to slow to be considered reliable.

Staff is a weapon where you plop down your marks, plus an extra mark of blood and then switch back to your other weapon. I would never use it as my main weapon.
I havent had any issues where the skills reset instead of casting myself, maybe its lag you’re experiencing ?

25 seconds on an ability that can do high damage in every build and will completely transfer every condition you have on you to an enemy is amazing. Fear needs the high CD too, its not supposed to be spammed. The auto attack isn’t nearly the issue people make it out to be. Yes it isn’t amazing in 1v1, but outside of that its a 1200 range piercing ability that can grant up to 15% LF every 2 seconds.

I love my staff in spvp, it’s always my engage weapon. When I run my conditions build I can drop most classes 25%-50% (except guardians and elementalists) before they can land a hit on me.

For WvW staff is the most useful weapon the necro has. It allows for AoE bleeding on a fast recharge.

Other than the Greater Marks bug, there is not much to complain about on the staff.

Necro Staff is in my opinion the second most satisfying weapon in game, Right after Warrior hammer (since all 5 skills there are good and on staff the 4 marks), if the projectile speed OR impact sound/damage got beefed, it would be really epic.

When life gives you lemon, ask if its from a anime or manga.

Staff is good as a secondary weapon, if you’re using it as a primary one you will feel like it’s clunky, but it’s really not. And running a staff untraited, especially if you’re not used to it, will be hurting you more than helping. Run it traited for a while to get a better feel of it and ease of use, then you can work your way to untraited and try that out some. Although if you plan on using staff at any regular frequency and can afford using up the trait skills for it, I would strongly recommend to always run a traited staff.

Staff is mostly fine. I would make only two tweaks…

1) Projectile speed needs to be faster on auto.

2) Reaper’s Mark needs to do more damage as to have a purpose against fear immune champions.

Other than that its aces.

I ditched the staff on my power build because of it’s defensive nature. Although it’s extremely strong on conditionmancers since you can afford to go defensive. The slow projectile and my only damaging mark being my cleanser sort of got to me.
