Suggestions: A counterboon for Torment
Well of Power turns chilled into vigor, immobilized into swiftness.
Contemplation of Purity turns both into swiftness.
So my guess would be that tourment won’t have a direct counterpart, but will just be turned into an already existing boon.
oh okay, cool, I was looking at corrupt boon as a reference so wasn’t aware, I guess that sounds fair enough.
There are more conditions than boons in the game right now, so not everything has a clear conversion.
What is odd, however, is that the two condition conversion skills don’t match up perfectly.
So I just took a closer look in WvW.
I used Well of Power after being hit with torment by another necro.
Guess what happened: nothing!
The well doesn’t remove it, apparently there really is no counterpart for it (yet..?)
There will probably be a new boon in the future given to Guardians, Warriors, and Engineers. -33% duration to conditions.
torment currently turns into 3 stacks of might, regardless of the amount of stacks of torment on the character.

Really?

Huh… as I said, my well didn’t turn it. I had one or two other conditions on me which all got converted, but torment stayed on me the whole time.
So maybe the well is bugged?
The way the game is working currently Flow, it only seems logical. Conditions have become incredibly powerful in the last 2 days.
Oh, yeah I agree. It just sounded like you had some sort of insider info…
I’m rather curious if it’s just my imagination or if I’ve been able to transfer it using dagger and staff 4. I’m also curious, if it isn’t possible, why it isn’t possible if Consume Conditions can get rid of it?
Rather curious indeed.
There are two possibilities here. Either Anet has made the deliberate decision to make it so Torment can’t be removed by normal means, or they haven’t got around to making normal condition cleanses get rid of it.
I’m leaning more towards the former. One of the most complained about aspects of condition builds is how easily they’re countered by the large assortment of condition removal methods in the game. I feel like they kinda wanted torment to help alleviate this. The damage isn’t exactly huge, but the duration is long and it can’t be removed.. except by other necromancers. Which brings up the next point — it was specifically mentioned in the patch notes that Consume Conditions now removes torment. I don’t think it’s likely that they would bother mentioning this if they wanted to flag torment as a typical condition that any skill could remove, otherwise there would have probably been a general note “All condition removal skills now remove torment”. This makes me believe it’s intended.
Unless torment somehow turns into a big problem (which I don’t see happening, due to how scarce it is), I’m expecting it to remain immune to normal condition removal methods.
That’s a possibility.
But with people complaining already about how “OP” we are, they will probably change it so that it is removed like every other condi with a cleanse. Which means thieves will have a added fact to their stealth heal which will remove it along with every other damaging condition.
As it is now, I love it.
Agreed with Brienson, it’s probably a deliberate decision. Which also explains why the different conversion skills (Well of Power, Save yourselves, Contemplation of Purity) aren’t consistent on which conditions they convert to different boons: depending on the recharge and conditionality of the skill the different conversions would affect its balance.
My buddy and I tested it several times, and contemplation of purity turned it into 3 stacks of might every time.
