There is a thief trait called “Fleet Shadow,” which makes the thief move 50% faster in stealth. This trait isn’t terribly useful on thief due to its placement in acrobatics and the fact that thieves already have tons of in-combat mobility.
Our equivalent trait gives us a 25% speed boost while in Death Shroud and a cd reduction on Death Shroud. Personally, I find the 25% speed boost part of this trait to be rather redundant because the use of swiftness or traveler’s runes renders it obsolete. However, a 50% speed boost to this trait would be very useful, allowing us to catch up to foes, keep up with generally faster professions, and close gaps in a unique way. Instead of being a liability of this trait, the passive speed boost in Death Shroud would be an asset, not to mention that it would really help our dear reaper against kiting professions.
the movement speed cap is at 33% anything above is against cripple and chill.

Yes and no. In combat it is actually only +25% but you movmentspeed is reduced, so even with swiftness you shouldnt get the 125% base movementspeed (atleast i think). So in combat you would get a use out of 50% extra movmentspeed even without chill/cripple on you.
Note: base movmentspeed should be the out of combat movmentspeed without any buffs/debuffs.
I don’t think this would happen simply cause they don’t want us to have that kind of speed. If they just made this give perma swiftness, and then made dark path a non-projectile teleport it would be a nice buff.

Apparently dark path was a ground target teleport in the beta, but it was too stronk.
Also the reaper RS 2 skill is a 600 range leap, and from playing mesmer with about face phase retreats, I know that a low cooldown 600 range teleport can make you move quite a bit faster, albeit at the cost of life force.

The whole class was supposedly too strong in the beta, but that shouldn’t prevent buffs to this skill which currently under performs as a gap closer.
The current problem with dark path is that it is slow and unreliable. That could be fixed by simply making dark path work like judges intervention on guardian. It could still have a cast time even. Having a reliable gap closer would also fix one of the design holes in Anets philosophy for necro. Anet has said multiple times necros should be hard to get away from, but that simply isn’t the current case. This would be a good way to do that without giving necros a lot of mobility point to point, which seems to be anets goal for whatever reason.
Reaper having a leap should not prevent this skill from being buffed as it is on the base necro shroud.
Super speed would be nice.
What would be even better would be remove the ICD on the shroud traits that cast abilities when you enter shroud. Speed of Shadows reduces the shroud CD but all of the other traits that could benefit don’t because they have ICDs.

I agree.
Beyond the Veil, Life from Death, Foot in the Grave, and Furious Demise all don’t have ICD’s and they work amazingly with Speed of Shadows.
They should remove the ICD on Spiteful Spirit and Weakening Shroud to add synergy! (Maybe make spiteful spirit useful =3=).

The thing is I bet they could change the Necro mostly to the beta state and we would still be outclassed by the current state of most other classes X)

Weakening Shroud’s cooldown is only for the weakness on crit. The DS entry effect doesn’t have one.
