Q:

Hi,

I have recently fell in love with necro in spvp. There is one question that I can not find consistent answer online, hopefully will get resolved here:

Let’s say I have 1000HP and entered death shroud with very little life force. A warrior proceed to spike me with 6K damage eviscerate. Will the extra damage directly go through death shroud HP and kill me? or will it simply just end my death shroud thus leaving me with 1000HP again?

Thanks.

Yep, even if you have only 1 HP, go into Death Shroud, and take 10000000000 damage, you’ll be completely fine. No damage done while in Death Shroud will carry over, which is why, like War Mourner said, we can jump from any height. As long as you are in Death Shroud when you hit the ground, you will live and take no damage to your HP.

you can die without a chance to react if low health and your life force is exhausted instantly.

Damage from a single attack will not effect health while you are in DS, at most you’ll lose all LF, which is why we can survive great falls with DS.

I remember falling killing or damaging you, it ate through health after Life Force.
I thought it was odd since in before launch DS was said to not “leak” damage iirc.

Later at some point it was fixed. …without patch notes?!
I felt dumb noticing it mentioned in posts on forums 2 months or so late.
I used Spectral Walk for the same effect and just assumed damage leaked the same way as always when it had been different for at least 2 months.

Anyway, point is now DS can take pretty much any 1 hit and you remain alive.
It’s a very useful, but I still don’t recommend doing it at low health if you can avoid it as the next hit or two will easily kill you.

May i note that what Bhawb.7408 said doesnt apply to locked ticking skills (life transfer) or multi tick based(whirlwind attack), for example, you are low on life force, enemy zerker warrior dual strikes you (axe offhand 4), unless you could tank the entire first hit with your remaining life force, the second hit will actually attack you, but a giant spike of damage that channels (100b) wont because they dont really count as seperate hits for DS/Blind, but instances in that the damage is delt from 1 use of the enemy (Life transfer and whirlwind on the other hand also cause a seperate tick on the owner of casting a damage pulse).

When life gives you lemon, ask if its from a anime or manga.

Also as a fair note point, I don’t think what is in the answer column is entirely true. It is true that any fall damage will not spill-over, but in the case of the MAW in fractals, if you have near full DS, it will absorb the hit with no overflow, but if you have say half DS, it will NOT absorb the maw bolt, and you drop.

Since that bolt does over 100% (hits me for like 24k with 20k hp) of your HP or so, it is a reasonable assumption that if you got hit hard enough in DS (a hit likely impossible to do in PVP), with less than full DS, it could kill you.

Testing info suggests that any practical single hit in PVP is not going to spill over. Just though I would mention you cannot absorb the maw bolt with low levels of life force in DS. Could be a one-off case though.
