I am still kind of new with necros and I noted that the final trait tree (soul reaping I think) has a lot of skills/traits that deal with Death Shroud. This got me thinking, has anyone tried making a build that revolves around using death shroud a lot and building up life force fast?

For us in WvW or PvE, i’ve been wondering this while leveling up. It seems like it would be good for tanking since you can basically get a full HP bar fairly quickly.

I run a hybrid condtion/power dmg necro close to the FERAL NECRO build on these forums with basis on condtions. I also have 30 in soulreaping and I can say that if your going to be a dmg or glass cannon then this trait is necessary for up to 2 full health bars or more depending on if you use selected traits. Makes your glass canno survive a lot more. I haven’t tried it on a full tank though….. but I’m sure you would be unkillable but your damage really lacks.

I’ve really liked the way the handled the “transformations” of necros. They feel…very necrosih. Death shroud, lich form (kitten in a can) and then the one that turns you into a plague are all very cool spells. My current necro is about level 35 and my main in GW1 was a MM necro. I made the class cause of MM and well, you can guess. I then tried to take advantage of death shroud and then tried an AoE corruption spam, i found the corruption spam amazingly good for leveling (taking out 4-5 enemies 2 levels above me).

I can’t wait till im 80 to mess around with the full traits.

Theres a number of traits that benefit you actualy poping in and our of Deathshroud.

Death Shroud recharges every 10 seconds.
Spiteful Spirit Trait gives you 3 seconds Retaliation for entering DS.
Furious Demise gives 5 seconds of Fury when entering DS.
Weakening Shroud 10s Bleed/Weakness AoE when entering DS.
Shrouded Removal cleanses 1 condition each time you enter DS.
Near to Death reduces DS recharge from 10 to 5 seconds.

By popping in and out, you can have every 5 seconds a perma weakness and fury, condition cleanse, and a small dot. On top of your normal abilities or mix and match.
