Tank Reaper? (PvE)
I have a tank build i used for pvp here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvdkEIIW-ME
not sure how it would fair out in pve world, maybe decent for fractals, but will definatly pull you through to gold 2-3 in spvp with some skill
SO thought id give a crack at this for you. Note that i havent played GW2 in just over a year haha but here we go.
So Necromancer/Reaper are quite tanky as it is with a large health pool and Death Shroud – its like built in tankiness. So it only makes sense to accentuate that and build upon it.
There are a few parts that you can switch out for others, for instance i tried to give you some more dps by increasing you crit chance whilst in Death Shroud as you want to utilize that as much as you can to do this you have the trait ‘Death Perception’ in the soul reaping spec then with some added food buffs you end up with a respectable 74.47% crit chance in Shroud. I took it a step further by taking ‘Unyielding Blast’ from Soul Reaping and ‘Decimate Defenses’ from Reaper specs so your shroud 1 skill applies vulnerability and then striking a foe with vulnerability increases your crit chance by 2% per stack.
Soul Reaping & Reaper traits are pretty self explanatory and mesh quite well. For the final spec you can change this out a bit depending on your taste i guess. For this one i went with Death Magic for that extra bit of toughness and life-force generation. The final trait ‘Unholy Sanctuary’ can be a life saver at times!
For the skills i went with Blood Fiend, Rise!, Bone Fiend, Well of Suffering & Chilled to the Bone!
Blood Fiend is really nice for some constant solid heals and with bone fiend they both work with the Death Magic spec. Rise! also is fantastic for general pve (Not so sure on fractals or raids though) I always carry it for roaming around. The last skill is up to you really. Well of Suffering is some excellent damage you can just throw down but then Well of Corruption is great for extra Life-force generation. Alternatively you could use this slot for any condition cleansing. For the Elite you can either go with Chilled to the Bone or Flesh Golem, i recommend Golem for general pve and roaming around.
You could swap Death Magic out for Either Blood Magic or Spite though.
sorry for the LONG post haha. Hope this is helpful or gives you some inspiration.
I use this as a tank power reaper.
I ve used it on spvp and got me to t3gold t1 plat.
;)
Thanks for the response! I wonder if these PvP builds will fair well in PvE… I’ll have to try them out. If not, then I at least have something to play around with in PvP whenever I get back to it. More focused on PvE at the moment though, and I need a lot of ascended gear.
In the meantime, please throw out some Reaper Tank suggestions and builds!
I’d go with something along these lines. If your gonna tank, you might as well go condi. But you probably are not going to be raid tanking with a necro. Current situation withstanding, not ever.
I tried to emphasize LF generation while maintaining some offense capability via conditions and Might generation from Spite. “Rise!” will also work well in the build.
Sonya for females. (necro,rev,ranger,mes,engi)
All classes lvl 80.

The build I use in… well every thing but pvp since I don’t play it, is trailblazer’s dhuumfire. I use spite, soul reaping, and reaper. Damage solely comes from burning, which, with max duration condi from trailblazer, balthazar runes and a smoldering sigil, hits consistent 6-7k dps. I run your soul is mine, rise, spectral armor, and spectral grasp, all but rise for life force generation. Take the traits that extend shroud pool and lower cool down, and you’ll never die. Usually, I’m only out of shroud for about five seconds before having a full bar again.
Thanks again for the replies. @Fenris Amarok, I’m really interested in what you’ve got. Could you possibly make something off of the build calculator site? It’s far more easier for me to understand if I see something… Sorry. It’s just how my brain works.
@rajjy Here you go. Like I said, I take the shroud cooldown reducing trait because I like being able to pop my life force generators and be ready to go back in to my happy place when the shroud cooldown is up, but you can play around with it if you want. I just find that it works best like this.
traits switch:
Parasitic Contagion for Lingering Curse when you have enough heal
Corrupter Fervor for Death Nova if you don’t need it to sustain fights or keep aggro
Augury of Death for Chilling Nova when “Rise!” isn’t taked
utility switch:
Corrosive Poison Cloud when projectile destruction it’s needed
Epidemic if you can take advantage of it
