Team support doesn't mean "ressing people"!
we got some good damage multipliers if the traits work as you read them. we have a lot more vuln (more than we need) and our strongest part is dagger auto attack so no need to buff that. the blood is power change is interesting but i dont know why they nerfed it before that. we will see

8 might for 8 seconds on a big cooldown and utility slot? Pathetic. You blast a fire field 3 times and have 9 might for 20 seconds at the very least.
Team support includes ressing people, it just isn’t a PvE focused support. Blood Magic is now really, really strong for WvW/PvP support though, allies not only don’t bleed out (this is really big), they also get pulled to you so you can drop not only a full Transfusion heal on them, but also exit DS to heal them again, and then res them creating a WoB on top of them. Its really nice to actually help in teamfights for once.
In PvE we’re still probably subpar, though we still got some nice buffs with the new vampiric trait.
That’s the point of my topic, I didn’t create it to talk about necro in PvP or WvW.
We were already garbage in PvE, traits weren’t going to magically fix that, and we’re still probably positive from where we are now. Traits can’t fix the deficit that comes largely from skills.
Who told you that this update doesn’t change skills?
This is only natural to hope for a magical fix of a class so broken that a well-known fansite wrote an article about how weak it is, when ANet is announcing the biggest rebalance of classes since launch.
A few changes to our skills wouldn’t have been enough either. We’re talking going from absolutely worthless in every way with not a single piece of meaningful team support, to somehow being meta, with there being absolutely nothing currently on the profession that could have been built off of to create a niche for us. They had to somehow create unique team support, and strong enough team support that we’d be worth taking over other professions, in addition to pretty significant DPS additions not based on might/fury (since most groups will provide that for us).
It was unrealistic to expect, we’re in a better spot than before, all we can do now is try to continue providing feedback, which they obviously listen to, and hope we get a bit loser next time round.
It is realistic to expect. Aoe ferocity around you, some blast finishers and maybe a smoke field and projectile defense + the vampiric aura = done, we don’t have to be meta, just useful enough.
Other classes have all that stuff and our necros should too…

As far as high end pve goes, eh. There’s still reaper to hope for.

As far as high end pve goes, eh. There’s still reaper to hope for.

I like how “team support” also allows people to screw with others to an amazing extent via Transfusion. I can already see kittens using it in the middle of a massive boss AoE to give a group of downed players a one way ticket to defeated.

On the other hand, teleporting to you is a nice counter to that other common annoyance of thieves and mesmers teleporting out of range when you want to res them. So, there’s that. Smart skill use will always be better than stupid skill use. You find the right time to res, not the wrong time. Otherwise, someone somewhere will always be making a mistake in large scale group content, can’t be helped.

Ressing is team support, but the undeath signet is still awful and the rest of the Ressing traits combined aren’t as good as the warrior banner
(….. Or even the guardian bubble).
The best new support trait is the signet/boon removal trait. 2 boons converted per signet (& is this AoE for locust signet? Probably not which is a shame as an internal cool down probably exists). Plus bonus signet activations from in 2 different lines.
That’s pretty good. Not as good as autoattack boon rip, but possible to do from range.

Depends on how much of a res each pulse of transfusion is going to do as well as if it procs the well of blood trait at your feet after moving the target to you.
