Terrormancer yay or nay?

Terrormancer don’t kill or massacre anymore.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
Unfortunately with recent changes it takes too much specification to make it “work.” It’s still fun but Fear is better suited for cc than for damage obviously.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
Unfortunately dummfire seems almost guaranteed to rip the teeth out of a terror build that doesn’t have 30 points in spite. It is less damage today than it has been historically, and harder to pull off.
You can still do it, but never try 30/20, because then you won’t want to try any other condi builds without 30 points in spite.

For WvW have you looked at 0/30/20/20/0 or classical terrormancer-type builds? I thought you had mentioned that in one of your GvG videos…

A GvG type scenario is really strange as a general rule. Things like single target burning and condition duration become almost completely useless, which invalidates the entire spite tree. That isn’t entirely true, but if you can count on other people for burning, you don’t need dummfire.
In that situation, well cooldowns can have a much larger impact on a 2-3 minute fight, things like focused rituations are very valuable. Greater marks means you will almost always hit 5 people instead of 2-3.
The small scale fighting (less than 10), is the only kind of fighting I really get much enjoyment out of, and in that environment, the 30 points in spite is almost a requirement. If I am fighting 2-3 people, I don’t need greater marks, I won’t be wasting time with wells, and I don’t really need any extra survival stats like toughness and vitality from traits.
That being said, in a 0 30 20 0 20 or 0 30 20 20 0 build for GVG, I don’t generally take terror either. I would take focused rituations and chilling darkness. I would say that a classic 0 30 20 20 0 build now a days for roaming purposes just doesn’t have sufficient offensive pressure.
If they would improve the minor traits in death and blood to be better or scale better this would be an entirely different situation.

The pressure is still there, its just a different playstyle where you are not going to insta down people. it does take a little bit more time to down someone but I never really notice the difference.
for a GvG I normally test out Terror to see it will have any real effect in the match. if it doesnt I go for spectral attunement. the other 2 in curses are chilling darkness and focused rituals.
running in a smaller group I still use the same 0/30/20/20/0 but with different traits and utilities.
