Test if you are a pro necro:
I haven’t yet figured that one out, though admittedly I only tried it once, and because I was using minions (GASP) they blocked my vision so all I saw was me dying.

Encounter explained: She drop balls of black goo over 1/4 of the room when she is invul, dragging shadow clones (that explode on contact; about previous mark size radius) of her into light drops crystals (and explode a current mark size radius) that let you take the invul stacks off her/make her weaker, she sometimes randomly neons the screen, black holes spawn that pull you in instantly on their full grown phase (around 3-4 seconds of time to react), when she is weakned she spawns previous bosses, is mobile, has instakill leap (short range/like hss), longer condi leap, pistol like projectieles and necrotic grasp (maybe other attacks but time ran out and i couldnt really look at it because i had to constantly swap dodge and Swalk/DP around), also the black goo drops then cover half the aoe.
Some notes that devs didnt think off, ground is rusty red, aoe circles are more than 30% in the ground, not very visible unless you lower graphics to minimum.
Neon lights hurt the eyes, A LOT, especially on a 120 screen and without v-synch (so either crappy fps/your eyes hurt OR getting to see what is it like to have a epileptic seizure/your eyes hurt even more).
Mobs that spawn in the corners of the room have around a 20~25% chance to spawn ontop of you instakilling you (a lot of luck for thus far a mostly skill based combat)
The sodding crystal throws are interrupted by other actions that cause it to disappear, so if you throw it and a mob spawns close or the goo decides not to follow the pattern it did but now a new one, you die or waste time trying to get a new crystal.
Also minions were quite good during most fights here, quite surprising in a nice way (yeah i used them too and that untraited for the most part, had vampiric master instead of transfusion slotted in).
The utter lack of sustainability is what wrecks me in that fight.
No mobility or blocks is also hell for dodging the screen-wide AoE.
Kind of funny that this is the exact scenario a bunch of us brought up the day they implemented DS overflow.
We have no way to avoid the damage, so you either die from a one-shot, oops out of dodges, or get withered down by her constant attacks ( that they look like our projectiles is truly salting the wound).
Best tips I can give are bring Locus Sigil for constat MS increase and use Spectral grasp to drag spirits into the lights.

For the spirit pull part, remember to use dodge right after or you get instakileld (since, oh my what a weird thing, Sgrasp works here and pull the target into melee).
Here is a quicker check…
see if you have autotarget on in your options
if you do…then you aren’t pro…
if you don’t you still might not be pro but at least you aren’t a noob.
So did you complete it Andele? Im gonna try the gauntlet tomorrow i think.
this fight is ridiculous, i put down over 50 tokens to try and beat her. Has a necro actually accomplished this? im pretty sure this was not play tested with a necro at this point but if I need to l2p i’d like some advice in this regard. NO WHERE does my shroud being nerfed so stand out as it does here.
I think we can all agree that they should have reverted the shroud nerf before this. Maybe they can still do it in a hotfix? Hey, it worked for nerfing Dhuumfire…

What do you think? https://dviw3bl0enbyw.cloudfront.net/uploads/forum_attachment/file/93064/gw932.jpg (just look at the QJ posts and youll see how i still feel about it even with all the additional effects used).

if you don’t you still might not be pro but at least you aren’t a noob. The most idiotic thing I have heard in a while. Considering necro has no leaps.
Considering leaps are not all that this is for, I guess you aren’t as pro as you thought you were. No need to bring idiocy into your posts though.
Well autotargeting doesnt really do anything for necros, most of our skills are aoe that then auto target the closes enemy to the middle of the aoe, so the location that youd drop the aoe onto a enemy in most cases…

Don’t forget about dark path getaways with blind casting. Tho there are some rare ocasions where its best to turn it off. Like when you deal with a lot of siege being clusterkittened and you don’t need siege you need the guy using it. But meh that is for me the only time I’d ever bother turning it off. Helps immensely as minion master since keybound targeting is horrid in this game.
Also… which aoe uses autotargeting? Marks don’t nether do wells or staff or scepter. O_o Unless you have some auto aoe casting option I never used?

Only tried it a few times so far.
Lame mechanics fight, sad too because the Gauntlet was pretty fun and interesting to this point. One shot kill mechanics I don’t find as very skillful, as most combat abilities and options just become irrelevant. Just becomes all about simply dodging and/or invulnerable defenses, which of course we don’t have. Probably why I don’t care for the dungeons in this game.

No, what i ment that if you have autotargeting on, its ususally no different than manual selection since pretty much every necro opening cast (be it marks, Scepter 2 or Swall/CPC/Well bomb for pushing a target off a point/burst) is aoe, since they select the same target you would have (unless you are weird and only place the borders of the aoes on the target you wanna focus).
Got it yesterday without energy sigils, but I did have Signet of the Locust on :p.

Anyone done the ‘8 orbs’ achievement (aka Light Up the Darkness) on necro yet?
Finished it after about 25 tries or so. The fight is oddly structured for what seems like complete chaos. Then adds always spawn in the same places, the white portals always spawn in the same places, you can shutter step back and forth to cause the necrotic grasp to miss.
I actually managed to do it without dodge roll food, using the spectral grasp to speed the mobs into the portals. Once you hit the second stage it is oddly not very hard at all. You can just run around the outside of the ring, as the safe zones spawn in a very predictable manner along the edge, remove cripple if the boss jumps to you (or just dodge roll and it will wear off) while throwin aoe behind you.
As for the 8 orbs achievement. I can’t imagine doing that on a necro. since the white portals aren’t always going to be near a safe zone, and you would have to time your dodge perfectly, AND the boss is putting weakness on you while you are trying to kite the adds into the portals…. it would be incredibly difficult.
If there is enough interest I’ll make a video for people having a hard time who want to see a way to do it on necro (just killing the boss, not the 8 orbs thing).
I managed to do it without energy sigils, but I did have locust. I’m a full condition build.
The fight is scripted so once you figure out the pattern to the death beams from hell you can just learn to stand where they aren’t. Dodges aren’t really needed. The hardest part is standing still long enough to pick up those stupid orbs, and throw them without getting clone slammed.
Also I found the fight much easier in a party where I could mark her so I wasn’t constantly tabbing through clones.

Did it on my (as in not edited for the gauntlet) build with out energy too this morning, it just took longer (almost till the floor opened), but i dont think you could stail it out for the second achivement long enough without dodging.

I got 2 confirmations on that. (Me and one of my guildies)
I think I should remove this quote given the recent developement.
I need more time to prepare myself and scavenge all the tips I can find, but I’ll get there eventually
Does anyone know if the clone explosions can be made to miss with blind? (In other words, can you use a well placed Well of Darkness to get rid of clones when there are too many, like some other classes do with invulnerability?)
