Spectral Grasp: This skill now fires at the necromancer’s original target and up to 4 other enemies within a 1,200 range. Increased the recharge from 20 seconds to 50 seconds. This skill has been unsplit from PvP and now functions the same in all game modes.

What are peoples thoughts on the new Spectral Grasp? I think looks really interesting, but that new cooldown is too much to make it worth the slot. Anyone else?

It’s targeting was always abit off if you ask me, never found it worthwhile…with multiple targets it may land better but the cd is a big turn off.

I honestly do not know, yet. It will take some trial and error to determine if it is improved.

Pseudo-mathing…
(0.5x ICD) x (((5x targets) – (3.5 targets who dodged or weren’t there to begin with)) x (50% success rate/target when greater than 180 distance)) = raw deal?

This math has to be wrong

it was a terrible skill before, it had a use maybe 2% of the time for some specific duels or what have you, nothing you’d ever keep on your bar permanently. I get how they’re trying to widen its appeal, but the cd nerf of both the skill itself and spectral mastery just makes it a joke. Incredibly situational now, and a one off ability. Better not miss the first time.

I’m not ingame yet so I’m not sure about any of this:

1. Does it strike targets in stealth
2. Does it grant life force for each target struck

Both of these put it in a really weird position.

For what it’s worth, I’m not sure I like it on paper. I think I may have preferred it if they kept it as it was, but added ammo to it.

If it gave you 75% lf if u hit 5 targets, combined with 5% more from spec mastery, for 80% regen if u won the lottery and hit 5 guys, that could be worth the cd nerf. but, what are the odds. I can’t get into game to test yet.

Trying to take a keep in WvW a bit ago. Someone jumped up on the right hand wall to disable siege, so I used Spectral Grasp on him. I missed him, but I actually yanked 2 other people down from the LEFT wall.

I thought it was cool.

Its…. really awkward. The huge CD was not needed, but the massive range of random pulls is…. kinda interesting. It doesn’t pull near your target it pulls your target and the 4 closest things too you, no matter how far out in left field they are from the original target. In WvW it could be handy to drag random people into a nuke, but i dont think its worth the slot with that CD. Interesting fact as well, it DOES shotgun, so you can land multiple claws on the same target, granted its not that great, but it could be 15 bleed stacks in a burst if done right?

A friend and I were trying it out in WvW and it works nicely with Reaper. Good for pulling multiple targets towards you similar to GS 5 and it also works on targets behind you.

Been running it for a few hours; it’s way more consistent, has a much higher ceiling, and is simply fun to cast now. The cooldown isn’t too bad when you consider the length of most actual skilled fights.

I have been trying it out and found it oddly better for PvE.

Within a 1200 radius, it will grab, or miss, anything without stab or immunity, even if it is behind me.

It rarely grabs more than 1 to 3 mobs out of 5 but the number of chances for a successful pull are five times what it used to be so something often works. The pull is also fair on break bars so there is that. The long cool down just means I need to time it.

Overall, it is a nerf in 1v1 and a buff in a crowd, i think.

why didn’t they split this skill??? the change is useful for wvw/pvp but in pve this butchers a source of CC, the cooldown is way too long. old spectral grasp was even not that big of dps loss with cd similar to “suffer!”.

Depends on where other potential targets are. Other than your target, it grabs the four closest things within a 1200 radius of you. Direction is irrelevant.

I think the recharge time is mainly to nerf before launch of PoF Oppressive Collapse (S5 Torch).
Imagine: Spectral Grasp => Oppressive Collapse => Harrowing Wave (S4 Torch) => Well of Suffering or any other AOE.

Unfortunate. It would be some insane break bar damage if they could all hit the same target. And although I don’t think it would work this way, but it would also be neat if it could strip multiple stacks of Stability if they all hit one player.

It’s still a 100% miss skill against any moving target. Also, too many counter, such as reflect, invul, dodge, stability etc.

50s CD on such a skill is too much, WAY too much. I would stick it around 30-35s. It was honestly better before the change.

Yep. I just tried it on some mobs. Drained myself of LF first. Aggroed 5 others and used spectral grasp. Poof. Full LF.

This will never hit a moving target (except maybe in a zergfight due to masses of players and visual noise).

At least in PvE it was something that could hit a break bar every 20 seconds. I was looking at it for break bar utility when I noticed how poor the scourge is against breakbars without Reaper shroud 5.

Both versions are terrible. New version is worse.

The new skill is so much better. The projectiles are faster and you can get up to 75%LF (!!!100%!!! if traited). Its still blockable and avoidable, but its so much better. Great change

Dodge right after or Flash shroud 2 back to the boss. We’ve got over 20k health so you have some room for error.
