Hello guys,
I mostly make necro oriented videos (often WvW roaming and sPvP fights). I while back I reached 100 subs and wanted to do something special, I just didn’t know what. Eventually I started working on a project I abandoned in the past; I created a necro elite spec and tried to balance it out the best I can. It might be effected by power creep though, since I tried to scale it with Reaper, Druid and regular necro.
Description:
This elite spec features a new form of shroud, glyphs which work like the druid’s in shroud and have a different effect if you use them in shroud and outside shroud, heavy condition application by torch and a special mechanic called: ‘’sacrifice’’. The so called Voidwalker manipulates the fight with heavy crowd control. The sacrifice mechanic will take a percentage of your maximum health as requirement to activate the spell.

I will talk here below on why I chose to balance stuff like I did now.
Torch:
Cursed Flames: kinda the same as the ele skill: ‘’Ring Of Fire’’ , just with a shorter field duration but with an CC attached to it.
Immolate: kinda the same as feast of corruption just less damage but more condition application.
Celestial Shroud: A very ranged and crowd control oriented shroud. NOTE: in the video I accidently put the cooldown and the casting time wrong.
Shadowfall: An AOE which deals a lot of damage and has long range, but a slow casting time. It’s a reference to Liadri.
Cosmic Retreat: kinda the same as the Mesmer phantasmal retreat, but instead of summoning a clone you daze your targets.
Rift Ward: You summon an orb which pulls foes to its location, you will gain access to rift break which will destroy your orb dealing small damage and fear people away.
Blackout: You can see this as a damaging condi focused ability for when people caught up to you.
Spacial Rend: Deals a lot of damage and stuns targets. It’s a long casting time so you have to be warry of it and position yourself well.
Glyphs: NOTE: I did give the celestial shroud glyphs and the normal glyphs a different name, my bad.
Glyph of blood: This is your heal skill will heal quite a lot and will heal more if you are below the health threshold. It does have a sacrifice so you can’t use it on the last moment. -Glyph of Enlightment: I thought it was a good but risky way to convert your shroud into healing. Meaning you won’t have access to shroud until your life force is above the activation threshold.
Glyph of Force: I always wanted a really powerfull skill with a major drawback. This skill is the major example of it. You will launch your foe away with a 10 sec cd, but it will take 1/5th of your maximum health. -Glyph of Night a decent stunbreak which also blinds foes, this will give you a bit more time to survive.
Glyph of Gravity: A good cc which keeps people in place to activate your slow skills on, does have a kinda big sacrifice. -Glyph of Magnetism: You will knock everyone down and cripple them, also triggering a blast finisher, also applying a magnetic aura on yourself.
Glyph of Fall: An insta stun on a 10s cooldown with a bigger sacrifice, it will help if you are being comob’d and you have no stunbreak. -Glyph of Equality: A good condi and boon removal with also a stunbreak. I forgot to mention it also applies stab for 1s to make the stunbreak work.
Glyph of Vile: Good immobilize with a decent sacrifice, it will also deal major damage. -Glyph of Janthir: Also forgot to node that the immune to blind is for 3s. Also a stunbreaker.
Glyph of Nova: A huge damage dealer with a big sacrifice, could call it a game changer. -Glyph of Void: You apply camouflage every to yourself until you leave celestial shroud or until you move.
The traits were mostly to counter some of the weakness I saw with this elite specialization. Like the stab on torch skills or causing a blast finisher when you enter celestial shroud. Because sacrifice will take chunks of your health I thought it might be better to give a trait that gives you the ability to be healed in celestial shroud. I also included a populair trait here which applies 10 stacks of confusion for 1 second on cc (ofc with cd). And ofcourse a major damage dealer trait. I also wanted to give it party support with a 15% damage increase against crowed controlled foes. Also making sacrifice less painfull by letting it tap from life force instead.
I really tried making something good and balanced of this video. As final thought some of these look a bit too powerfull, but mostly are in my opinion balanced in comparison to the other elite specs.
I am always up for awnsering questions either in the comment section of the video or up here. (I do look more on the comment section, because I get notified there.)
