That – or something like that – was the last official statemant (IIRC from John Peters) according to the necro during BWE3. He was also referring to useless traits, skills and traits that don’t work as intended an the fact, that there was just one effective build for the necro.

Well, nothing changed since then.

So, if I don’t like the way the necro plays right now should I reroll another profession or is Arena Net already working on a necro patch?

I’m staying with my necro, something will be done eventually.
I think that reworking some and fixing other traits would make a significant difference for the class.
However I would like to see a red post here just to maintain my comfort level and high hopes for all the good things that could possibly come.

An official statement would be great. I’ve tried tons of builds and have found only tank/support builds that work. All other builds where underwhelming. I’m really interested if this is intended and i just haven’t found the right build yet. Maybe i’m just a bad player.

If it isn’t intended, i’ll be relieved.

It can’t be intended – classes should be balanced and in my opinon this also includes the possibilities to build your character in multiple ways and still be somehow beneficial to your team, especially sPVP wise. There are so few necromancers in the tournaments that something must be wrong.

so i just did some more structured pvp, lol oh my god warrior and guardian are sickeningly strong compared to necro. I almost puked at how OP they were compared to necro.

Was literally NO balance issues taken into consideration ? Cuz this is ridic, necro is grossly underpowered AND outclassed by a mile compared to guardian in support. It literally makes me want to ram my first into my monitor to see how much stronger those classes are compared to mine.

They’re nowhere NEAR being equal.

My major concerns are not the balancing issues, I hate that a lot of game mechanics don’t make sense:
- the cap on bleed
- why do minions disappear as soon as you swim on the surface
- why is there no reliable condition weopon for underwater combat
- why do I only have 1 elite skill under water and why does this skill despawn all my summond minions
- why am I afraid of getting involved in underwater fights
- ….

you’re afraid of getting involved in underwater fights cuz fighting underwater with a necro is basically suicide, not that fighting on land isn’t any less suicidal compared to these other OP classes…

Necromancers do need work. My main gripe is minor traits (some of them just make me scratch my head – especially the current implementation of jagged horrors and the one that gives might when hit and <25% life).
But i also do believe that as is a necromancer is not useless as some make it out to be.
I too would like a red to chime in and share some info on where we currently stand on necro’s

My main problem is, that any class can clean all conditions. If they could only clean 5 conditions that would be a major buff at least. At the moment burst classes just have a huge advantage. They clean your conditions and kill you in seconds. Or you build tank and they just don’t die and kill you with their second or third burst.

Pretty much my experience.

I tried offensive condition mancer. It wasn’t bad if no one notices you, but you go down incredibly fast if anyone attacks you, especially warriors/thieves/guardians. It’s a total catastrophe in terms of balance.

As a caster in the dark arts, why do we get no burst damage like these other classes do? We have light armor and can’t do jack crap. What gives anet?

Seriously you want us to use light armor with daggers toe to toe with warriors that get 10k+ crit pops easily?

Lol what the F yo …. that crap is rigged son. No chance. Game, OVER.

The light armor concept was all right, as long as Death Shroud was used automatically before we died. And it was still fine while DS was more durable. But currently, we are too squihsy to fight in toe to toe combat without any escape skills (which we also don’t have).

I’m content to wait for it. I’m fairly certain, as things stand, that a major necromancer buff will be the first balance change they make, and if I’m doing alright now, then I can only get better when they improve my class. One thing Anet has shown with their games is that they’re never afraid to make sweeping changes to a class if it helps the game. I feel like the necromancer isn’t in a “finished” state. It was way, way too strong in PvP and PvE, and the release date was sneaking up, so they nerfed us nice and hard to put a band-aid on the problem to make the date. Now that they don’t have to worry about their game getting out on time, and once they don’t have all hands on deck handling support tickets, they’ll sort out our traits, improve our other builds, and fix the minions. And then we’ll all be able to sit around with our awesome doom wizards a year from now and regale the newbies with tales of “how it used to be”.

How long did it take them to fix mesmer in gw? We’d be lucky if they fix just the necro bugs in the next couple of months. For now tho, it’s best to roll an alt, I’m already more effective in wvw as a 14lvl thief in greens than a 80 lvl nec in exotics.

Ya its really sad right now the state of Necros. They are fun to play in PvE but once you fight another class in PvP you realize how bad they are. Some of the blame can be placed on minion AI, half the time my Flesh Golem is literally standing there watching me get my butt handed to me instead of attacking. Also why do pet skills take forever to trigger?

I use all of my necromancer powers to raise this thread from the far far dead!

Back to the topic, it has been almost 2 months now, and we still aren’t seeing the love we were promised. We have received very few, true, fixes, (some caused more bugs) and still have a growing list. I can’t help but find myself agreeing with many in this old post, still.

Considering we have been ignored forever and Ranger’s got a post talking about all their underwhelming utility options, traits, and everything, I’m going to assume Rangers will be getting a ton of fixes in terms of balance and build variety while necro’s continue to get completely ignored.

The fact that they give ranger’s a post like that, and we still don’t get ANYTHING is completely insulting.

The sad thing is that they have been talking about “balancing” quite a bit. They have mentioned it a few times on the dev tracker, even one saying they had a “balancing meeting”. The only thing that made me think that could be would be give the Rangers a GOD fix (considering the red post), maybe nerf thieves, add a tad bit more to the supportive people (the ones who want to be healers but the aoe heals are kitten and they get no reward for doing it), and a mesmer nerf. I just don’t see anything coming our way. -_- I would love to see another chart now.

It’s insane !

I mean come on, when the 3rd BWE finished ANet stated that the Necro was the class that needed the most “work/attention/whatever”, and the only thing they did is :

-Conditionmancer > nerfed
-Foot in the Grave > nerfed
-Fixed Last Gap (reported it on 2nd BWE)
-Minor changes …

Where is the possibility to see my health bar and boons/conditions while in DS ?

The axe is a joke …
Our melee dmg are a joke (compared to other classes) …
Our mobility is ridiculous …
No escapes …

Let’s be honest the only thing we’re good for is stick the bus and aoe …
