Seems about right.
I tested it by fighting against svanir in hotm with 100% life force and it doesn’t seem to reduce life force for taking a deadly hit.
So the new “feature” doesn’t work? Actually pretty happy about this then.

Um, I may not have expressed myself very well.
The trait works and stops a fatal blow but this fatal blow doesn’t reduce your lifeforce. It simply is negated and the dmg doesn’t apply. Neither to your hp or to your life force.
So it works not quite as intended, i guess?

I already tested it. Jumping down with this trait will kill you (if the jump was deathly).
It behaves more like the aegis boon i would say. But it also blocks the first condi tick so it is a little different i guess.
So, it makes it like it was in…alpha testing, I think, where instead of going into the downed state when taking lethal damage, you’d go into DS instead.
That’s a lot better than I thought it’d be. With that trait, we can actually soak huge hits with DS, like we’ve been begging to do.
Wait… so you they made a GM trait that lets you essentially use DS as an Aegis on enter (but only on a fatal blow and with a 30" cd)? I guess that makes it more interesting than I thought, but it’s still no way worth of grandmaster.
Also, there’s every possibility that’s unintentional and will be hotfixed in 2 days…

It’s not really that good unless centered around a build or in an environment with high LF gain. Without that you usually find yourself popping into DS with only like 1%-5% LF, instantly being burned and instantly dying anyways. You’re better off to use your LF to mitigate spike damage to your health pool, while using unholy sanctuary’s regen throughout instead of saving LF for death. Another idea is to not use US at all and instead pick another trait or put those trait points in another line.
Well, one thing I’m planning on doing is, if it’s clear I’m going to “die”, flash death shroud. Unholy Sanctuary will proc it regardless of death shroud’s cooldown, so extra “on entry” effects is good.
It’s better to do that and getting a bit of extra kick instead of going into death shroud to try and prolong your life unsuccessfully . At least with US, your health is higher when you leave than it was when you went in. May be able to buy enough time.

I think I can actually use this trait if I want to run a Minionmancer for PvP. I don’t like the idea of Death Nova a lot, as I mostly aim for sturdy and long lasting minions. True, Death Nova provides an emergency damage for you to not to be utterly useless should minions get bursted, but it isn’t just gamebreaking to me. Or maybe I am just bored.
I think the new Unholy Sanctuary can work quite well as a comeback mechanism or prelonging fights to give time for allies and can be comboed with other stuff. For example, it can be used pretty well alongside Rune of Vampirism as in the Mist Form you can still enter Death Shroud to deal damage and gain life force – damage you recieve while in “Mist Shroud” will not be absorbed (it will be negated) by your life force pool; only to pour all your life force again once more when you would otherwise die.
