Necromancer/Casual Warrior
[Team] Best WvW guild of all time. EASILY.
DO any agree that there is a decent chance the blood magic line turns us into beasts. Having let the changes sink in, and having seen the synergies in some potential specs, I think we really could be incredibly strong. Like busted strong.
But we will always lack the mobility so will never be OP in reality. I think the least mobile class, necro, and a class without escape mecahnics is balanced only if it has the strongest in combat sustain and is a beast in combat. I hope this is the direction they are going with necro.
I have a couple of ideas for broken valkyrie type specs. It depends on the numbers though I guess. And every theory crafted build seems good until you realise thief has things like withdraw, mesmer can spike for 18k in 1 second and ranger can shoot missles at 1500 range. That warriors can heal for more than anyone, that elementalists how a ton of skills and powerful overpowered traits, that engineers can slick shoes you and 1 shot you on a support bunker spec.
IMO our only hope is that blood magic turns out to be good….very very good. Otherwise we are doomed.
I am actually fairly confident we might be top tier in pvp. Hopefully.
The only thing i took from it was about the new siphon aura " it does about as much as vampiric now" so that means that the other siphon traits got a boost?
Trolling aside, knowing ANet, they’re capable of kittening something up so this actually happens Low chance, but it’d be funny. Certainly siphon ending up broken is atm the only chance for necro to not be dead.
P.S. Henry marry me.

Even if blood magic is amazing, Condition builds for necro will be close to the bottom of the barrel in terms of other classes condition builds.

In pvp condi is dead. Too much removal, the maths is against it. Time to let condi go probably. Makes me sad but o well.
I honestly think siphoning through death shroud is an insane buff. I think we are going to be busted. Shame because i am only really good at condi necro so doubt i will be ahead of all the people who reroll.
Ofc we could just suck too

I don’t know. I originally thought so as well, but looking at it closer I think Necro is going to be very strong.
The way Signet of suffering interacts with other traits..and well direct signets is going to make necro the only class that can reliably get around the new resistance buff.
Look at just how it interacts with the blood magic trait blood bond. When you hit four bleeds you will turn two buffs on the target to conditions, gain three stacks of might for 15 seconds, and put a 5 stack active life siphon on the target. That alone will do 1200 damage and heal you for 2k as long as you can eat all 5 stacks. Best thing yet is it only has a 15 or 20 second cooldown.
Basically you won’t be fighting through boons like other classes do, you will have incredible duration on your bleeds, and be very defensive.
I think necro is going to be good.
My only concern is the concern we have all had, removal. But with how we can constantly convert boons now, we will just have to see. Signet of locust being an AOE boon conversion is going to rock.
Its possible but really, really unlikely.
Condition necro mainly lacks sustain and dps in DS. Despite all the cleansing and whatnot I’ll give it another try whether I equip staff or not will depend on how good Parasitic Contagion is, the healing blocked by DS is already an issue. Condition necro and siphon proc don’t sync that well even CPC doesn’t have a hit proc and scepter has it’s own issues but we shall see soon.

For the first time ever we can produce a ton of life force with staff and mark on dodge. Necro with life force is strong. Then the other weakness of death shroud is condis, but we have a trait for that now. A very strong trait. And then we have 14% of toughness to power in death shroud. Which with valk will be alot. And we get ferocity from valk, and we will crit a ton in death shroud due to the gm trait. And whilst all this happening, whilst our life force isnt degrading fast due to vital persistance we are regening a ton of health with unholy santuary and siphons. We could be getting 5k heals off whilst i death shroud when blood bond procs too. Which allows more ds healing. And we can proc blood bond with mark on dodge and ds2 from death shroud. Or with just a mark and mark on dodge.
It will be so broken. I am more and more convinced. And we take the well trait for more heals. Well spike a corpse amd go into death shroud for healing, crits and more power.
Totally busted. Sometimes its good anet dont understand necro
And the unhoky santctuary proc now will be like two lives. It procs and we then siphon back to 5k health and get to our heal. Madness. Its is totally broken. We need to play a ton for a month or so before they hotfix it
Blood Magic is actually the only hope we have and it is a fading hope.
Signets Blood necro? Looks okay, but requires you to land the slow skills which have tons of counters. I wouldn’t write off the passive might/vuln/signets application as a failure yet, they may as well be very good, but I am just tired with no changes to our gameplay that would enrich the interactions within and outside of the profession.
We’ll have to wait and see.

Wells with valk. We will have the cleave of a zerker necro and yet never die. We will find out how eles, engis, warr and thief have felt for 18 months. And flesh golem and wurm all give u health when in death shroud.
Anet did a double buff. When they do double buffs they always break somethi g. They let siphons work via death shroud and buffed siphons. The traits in this line are insane. Its hard to know what to pick because they are all so good.
ofc i could be wrong. 2 thief backstabs could end all this and show it to be wishful thinking. And the cc nerf sucks. I think they will rework that though. Cc i expect to get the shelter treatment when the patch actually comes out
On the other hand, warriors have some sick CC specs coming and the usual stances/shouts/healing signet flavour so it can be just as it used to be.
Don’t forget the Rampage war. I think the skill actually got buffed and can’t wait to get rampaged.
Robert Gee said on the last week’s stream that they’re trying to find the necro flavour and so far it’s the condi transfers (through skills and passive procs) and the vampirism they’re pushing with this update. I’m truly not sure whether it’s the right way, although it’s still better than nothing.

I don’t think shoutbow is going to survive in the new meta. Burst classes will be too strong and they toned down a lot of the things that made shoutbow over the top. They’ll still remove a ton of condis and have support, but they won’t survive as long or bring the damage they once did.
As long as diamond skin ele isn’t the norm, condi can make a comeback.
Not in PvP.
Even if we had 100% immunity to damage, we still have sucky mobility and bad access to stability. It would be trivial to decap/knock us off point.
Not in PvE
No immunities to the IHKO bosses, no reflects, and 3rd tier DPS.

I’ve been playing with Unholy Sanctuary for months now.
About half of the time it effectively does zero (I was going to die and still die 2 seconds later). If you die because you are immobilized, for example.
About 25% of the time it actually does zero. It doesn’t activate, because It activates at the same I was about to enter death shroud, and so my death shroud push actually causes exit shroud and I die with a big bar of Death Shroud. Spikes damage, lag, and proper DS use as defense causes this to happen a LOT.
But the 25% chance to get away and heal up with the bad on paper regen is pretty good. I suspect that in actual gameplay, since siphons take time and you to make hits (and stay in danger), that the extra healing from siphoning makes less difference than you think.
On the other Hand, Unholy Sanctuary is legit OP when you would otherwise be getting killed while in Lich Form/ Plague.
See, I’d agree with all those things you listed if no one else got changed, or if our weapons weren’t trash. But comparatively our power creep didn’t match others.
People might want to temper their excitement over siphoning in Shroud. Siphoning does very little right now. Increased by — what is it? — 20% it becomes slightly more than very little. Signet of Vampirism will never provide its full complement of healing in Shroud because you can’t hit fast enough.
You don’t land that many blows while in Shroud in most cases in PvP. On the average, it’ll represent a few hundred in healing at most. It might be nice, but it won’t tip the scales for you that often.
The problem with Valkyrie amulet is the lack of Vitality, which is a huge stat for Necros. It’s a large part of why Carrion outshines Rabid for condition builds, even though condi has such high crit reliance.
It might work out all right, but as long as Necromancer has no decent healing skill, the profession will be at a disadvantage.
