Things you would love to see in near future.
New skills and new weapons are somethings you should only expect in an expansion or something like it… in other words, not in a near future.
But some fixes in ou current minions could make a minion master viable (some brains to the minions would be nice).
Things I would love to see:
1) Another look given to traits, specifically the Death Magic tree. If you look at any other profession’s toughness-centric trait tree (with the exception of Elementalists – sorry guys but you get suckered here with all your minors enforcing Earth attunement) then you’ll notice none of them* enforce a particular playstyle. For us however? We’re forced to use Minions. Especially if you don’t want to miss out on up to 100 extra toughness.
It absolutely sucks that when it comes to my minor for Death Magic, two of them I have to use Minions or just forget they’re even there. I know you want Death Magic to be the minion tree but look at it this way: Engineer’s Inventions tree focuses heavily on turrets. Yet none of the minor traits have anything to do with Turrets. It’s simple, and it works. You can go up the tree and avoid can avoid picking up turret-traits if you want. With Death Magic I feel like I’m missing out on benefit of my minors just for not picking up Minions, but wanting excellent traits like Greater Marks, Staff Mastery, Rituals of Protection, etc.
So yes, a rethink of those minors would be wonderful.
2) Another look and perhaps retuning of the coefficients of life-leeching skills. I dunno about other Necromancers, but I for one would love to play some sort of life-leeching build. Unfortunately the amounts of life leeched are lacklustre, to say the least. Things like Life Siphon, Signet of the Locust active, Vampiric Minor Trait, and the following major traits: Bloodthirst, Vampiric Precision, Vampiric Master, Vampiric Rituals.

I also would +1 to reworking our traits. I posted a thread about the dumb pairing of trait attribute bonuses and its the reason why we’re stretched thin
anything that grants stability or a nice free stomp or a fear change so they can’t stomp us that easily is welcome.
1. Clean up the traits a bit, primarily making them more interesting. On my Mesmer I respec often because of how many other traits I enjoy playing with. I haven’t respecced the Necro in a while because I’m not missing anything (and frankly, most of what I have already is underwhelming and uninteresting).
2. Increased minion AI and viability in WvW. New ranged minion would be nice.
3. Increased access to boons. Ours is quite paltry. Even w/o using Blink or Stealth, I have much better survivability on my Mesmer due to Vigor, Aegis, and Protection I gain.

I want to see a Life Force/Death Shroud revamp that actually involves Life Force management. Spending life force for certain attacks/heals/cc/pets and more interesting ways to gather life force. Also turn Life Blast from a slow spammable dps ability to a large Life Force dump that explodes on impact and looks amazing and does great burst dmg.
And besides all the mechanical things i’d like to see, I’d love to see some lovin’ for our aesthetics. Gnarlier looking pets, give em some spikes and stuff, more awesome spectral-esque skills/effects.
Also some unique DoT abilities would be cool, like Warrior offhand sword that puts a unique dot that applies bleeds over time, or Guardian Greatsword aoe pull dot that isn’t a condition.
It’d also be cool to have Epidemic apply conditions for like 2 seconds instead of just one instance, so any conditions being applied after you cast it for 2 seconds get spread as well, that would be incredibly handy.
I was actually thinking the same about how LF could be more player-manageable with interesting uses. Something along the lines of consuming Life Force as a short channel that gives healing instead of dmg+LF, a big dmg dump, a large aoe CC of some sort, etc.
Right now it’s just an extra HP pool for soaking up the rampant burst dmg that just so happens to provide some minor uses. Kind of a dull career mechanic when compared to most the others. Powerful. But dull.
