This is going to get Reaper nerfed
I posted a video in that thread. This is actually much more potent on Reaper than base necro. But also, as it turns out, there were spots like this in Stronghold, too, where I am fairly confident it will affect combat frequently. Please do fix this. x.x

Nerfed? You mean bug fixed and hopefully given some actual survivability to compensate.
Sooo, yeah. This bug is kind of serious.
Let me get this straight. A known bug will get a class spec nerfed? Where is the logic in that? Wouldnt they simply fix the bug instead

Taken from the other thread.
this is a terrain inherent bug it can not be fixed without some drastic changes to the phisics engine.
now i want you to think about this: what do you think is more likely, a drastic overhaul of the phisics engine or a change to the reaper ?
I would call that an incentive to give us the trade off we wanted: passive LF regen when below (and up to) 25% at the cost of a reduced health pool.
But who cares, soon we will all get Blighter’s Boon to start games with 10-20%. I already miss it. =[

No, he means the bug left ignored and Reaper gets nerfed to compensate.
There has always been places and terrain you get LF from. And the bug in the video only affects if noone has blown up the clock tower in Kyhlo. It just bunch of ppl not knowing how to react to Reaper they are QQ about a bug that has been here for like 3 years. Reaper also rekts ppl in other maps where there is no “exploits” simply because ppl think they can facetank the Chills and Gravedigger.
Its not just the clocktower. There are places all over the maps in all the PVP maps that you can siphon LF from like this. Its only readily apparent now because of GS/Reaper cleaves. ANet has a history to consider as well.
Could warriors also benefit from these spots to build up adrenaline?
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Why would this be specific to the Reaper? And why would this be cause for a nerf now when it has been in the game forever?

Nerf the Reaper (or necro) for all game modes because there are some places they can get more life force? Yeah, no.
It’s more likely that the terrain would be changed, or that the map would be dropped from rotation.
Besides, how would this nerf to necros look like anyway? Remove all life force regeneration?

Yes.
And Kyhlo’s clocktower also allows some classes to teleport through walls to the middle of the point. It’s a weird map in that way, always has been.

Its not just the one map this happens, though. There are places in ALL maps that necromancers can do this.
The point is, ANet has always taken the path of least resistance. There is a huge history of them doing this, even all the way back to GW1. ANet balances this game a lot around its PVP modes, because its to much work to separate the skills as they originally said they would.
ANet still sees themselves as a competitive E-Sport franchise (which is laughable TBH), and a bug like this is rather embarrassing for them. They’ll likely take a sledge hammer to this in order to save face like they’ve always done. I do not see them redesigning the physics engine, or redesigning the maps to solve this. I see them reducing the amount of LF Reapers gain in order to compensate, and leaving the rest as it is.

Let’s just say that this bug was already here since launch.
Let’s just say that this bug benefit to the base necromancer as well.
Let’s just remind you how good the necromancer has been viewed in spvp since launch.
…
Let’s just ignore this then, since it’s not gamebreaking.
Seriously, crying for a bug that’s been here for ages and never made the profession OP is a pathetic waste of time.
NB.: Simple thing that they can do with the existing engine would be to give all environment element the invulnerability buff. Which would result in no LF generation.
This bug is affecting all classes with on hit effects and procs like Warrior’s adrenaline and on hit sigils. It has its downsides too since it keeps you in combat.
The only sensible solution is to fix this bug at its core. Nerfing Reaper is unfair since other classes can exploit it, it’s limited to few maps and spots, it has been there since launch and still base Necromancer has always been mediocre.
This bug has to be fixed, but I still think most of the complains against Reaper are due to players fighting it as if it was a base Necromancer.

So is the issue about hitting something which can’t be damaged? That doesn’t sound too complicated to fix.

Oh it can be damaged by trebs, skyhammer and doorbreakers, just not by playes (or enough by players).
