Quite a few changes are being made to the necromancer. With this update, we continue our focus on survivability and attrition. Dhuumfire is being unified for PvE and PvP and moved to Life Blast instead of requiring the necro to critically hit an enemy. The Death Magic line has been reworked and restructured slightly so that minions are no longer a required element of that trait line. We’re moving some traits around and making room for Armored Shroud, which grants bonus toughness while in Death Shroud, and Soul Comprehension, which increases the base life-force gain from surrounding deaths.

For once, I am actually quite excited for the changes to the necromancer. Reworking death magic so that you don’t have to use minions was a must, and the death shroud updates seem promising. What are your guys’ thoughts?

It’s exciting seeing new features, but if you analize it the outcome could be a little different.
I think that instead of addressing the other problems by fixing the yet exhistent traits they added more traits to give the illusion of having more viable builds.
We won’t have dramatical changes to the actual builds, we won’t have new skills, just some new bunker or support build. When the game clearly rejects low dps supports in PVE and when they clearly fought bunker professions in PVP for almost a year.

Just a sterile try to keep people from leaving.

The Art of Temporizing.

armored shroud: can be good but I doubt it.
soul comprehension: sucks it’s just 2% on kill if you are not in death shroud which is they are trying to promote.

Parastic contagion: this is one I will love, it is just what I wanted, healing while doing condition damage Sad it doesn’t scale with healing power since we have death into life.
path of corruption is a bit weak but can be the thing that rips the stability of the enemy.
Unholy sanctuary: weak but if combined with high lf generation it can become usefull.
Unholy martir: This is a awesome support skill, the life force regenration makes it perfect. This trait justifies the place of sanctuary.
Renewing Blast: This can be some of the strongest support in zergs but only there.

All in all I’m ver happy with the new traits. I’m very excited with the changes, makes want me to gather some new armor sets.

I’m excited for the changes actually. I already have a DS staff build I use in WvW wherein I spend 50+% of my time, these changes will give me regen (even though not powerful) as a bonus to what I have played all along.

Giving the undead rats a kick to the curb is just an added bonus, seeing as in their place I get even more toughness and LF regen. It’s a Win/Win for me, but I can see how most of the changes might seem lackluster, however, I will wait and see.

Hmm…I am rather pleased with Parasitic, been considering remaking my Necro as a Sylvari but wanted to see the traits first……

Think I might do that if I can get a good Sylvari look, I’ve begun to stop giving a kitten about the state of Condis in PVE. Still find Condi Necro far more enjoyable then anything else. Not like I run with speed runners anyways and I can’t stand more then 20 minutes of a champion farm. Plus Epidemic is just so satisfying in WvW and PvE
