Going suicide mode is great, once they down you they are in for a surprise!
I didn’t get to use Death nova a lot yet since I seems to get killed too fast for that. But it’s seems damage heavy, even more if it’s affected by the 50% damage.
I will try that build with my current build. I’m a condmancer, but I’m gonna focus on fear and downed attack. Will stay ar range with Scepter/Staff and still use epidemic. If they down me, BBOM.

Lol. Nice idea. Although you will give points to your enemy for each time you go down.
do they get 5 points for a down or only 5 points for a stomp?
do your allies get 10 points for a revive?
what actually counts towards the 500 win?

I like the build’s idea. Like everyone else here, I’m unsure of the effectiveness/fun factor but it’s definitely a unique idea!
I might give this a try in the Mists and give ya some feedback.

extra power then again I dont think it works in downed so probably switchable
enemies don’t get points when you go down.. or at least thats not what i experienced so far they get points for kills tho.. you get extra points if you do it in the vicinity of a node defending or attacker bonus but those arent counted towards the 500 scores just counted towards glory points.
for the build it self i have to see some raw numbers just tried it vs the warrior in the mist and it seem to trigger a putrid explosion and it hit the warrior for 883 damage ok this wasnt crit but i do run with 3200 attack and 2300 power.
whats also worrying is that fear on going down trait this might make them run out of your death nova instead of in it. if you wanna be a so called living bomb you better make sure you pull people in the vicinity off your blast not out of it can also help with the burst potential of your team if everything is nice and cluttered up.
i would advise putting the points from curses into either blood or death magic to be iether more durable got better staf abilities and another fear or to be more of a support character for your team placing marks of bloods on heavy battlefields and giving them hp by using lifetranfer trait in bloodmagic.
the long well times might be a problem in the long run too you can also choose to get 20 bloodmagic for well cooldown and life transfusion and mark of blood to help heal your party in battle.
or if you wanna be more durable go the death magic route get greater marks to vastly improve your staff skills and reapers protection they both greatly benefit your superior fearing ability.
the 15 in curses trait seems a bit redundant if you dont have reapers might or near to death or have a natural high crit % to begin with

Hey im all for a original idea but do remember warriors can finish you off way before anyone else so and it does seem to be a odd idea to put points into curses if you do not have some traits or a high crit chance already but I will give it a go since its a different idea.
So Tried this out in a tourney tonight and was getting crits from the death nova from 4-7k hmm.
was running berserkers with 30/10/0/0/30

Thanks for working out the mechanics of the death nova OP! Thats some nice innovation right there =). However, terror is an utterly trash trait, the damage is pathetic since the fear duration is pathetic =(. I think the main problem is the necromancer downed state isn’t really good at beating other classes who get downed by your death nova.
I tried it today in WvW, and it wasn’t a succes.In about 1 hour of WvW, I didn’t get to use Nova once because I died before.
But, damage on fear is just great. @Derk says the damage is pathetic, but with really bad gear and being level 61 in WvW, I do around 500-800 damage on each fear, That’s Free damage on a CC. I really love it.
I abuse fear now, using the staff and switch on DS as soon as I can.
It might be downed state lag, but I didn’t really see my AoE fear work when I was downed? Can anyone confirm that it really work out? Didn’t see any different with or without it. But since I’m not 80 yet and my fear still only last for about 1 sec, it might be the cause.

Mark of blood, dodge in for mark of evasion, weapon swap for sigil of geomancy, grasping dead, epidemic. Something like 12k bleeding on your epidemic target, 18k+ on anyone standing close enough. Takes about 3 seconds to do, you don’t end up dead, and you can do it every 12 seconds, just swap the order of grasping dead and mark of blood every second time.

I actually enjoy this little build in wvwvw and pvp but I made a few changes and if i was home I would link the changes but its a nice change but for PVE its not worth it.

Enemies don’t get any points until you’re dead, so downing is fine. They get 10 for killing and 5 for finishing (I believe)
