I need some tips for fighting this class, Condi and Shatter builds. I feel absolutely hopeless 1v1 vs this class and I often get mowed down by them in teamfights aswell. Both the condi and zerker variants.
Any tips for which animations to evade or anything to atleast survive against them? I play marauder blood necro btw

Tips for quickly identifying the real Mesmer:

• Real mesmers have boons, signets and often portal opening on them, just quickly tab though and you should be able to find them
• Real mesmers move. Look for the moving mesmer
• Real mesmers use skills. Look for the mesmer that isn’t auto-attacking
• Real mesmers have names.

Tips for avoiding attacks:

• Mirror blade: This is an opening attack that most Mesmer will use right before a burst, dodge this every time. Mainly categorized by great sword, watch for the mesmer to do an overhead throw at you. Most Often seen following Illusory Berserker (So expect it after you see a clone whirl though you).
• Illustration leap: This is an opening attack that will immobilize you, followed by burred frenzy (Super hard hitting attack). Can be avoided, however by strafing if the mesmer don’t immediately complete the combo. Often used as a starter from stealth, If you see a clone leaping at you from no-where dodge before it gets to you and you will avoid the entire burst. It is advisable to AOE that clone.

Plague signet can turn the tables on a condi mesmer, but make sure you actually hit them. The tips posted above are good general tips. I’m not familiar with your build, so I can’t help you with a specific course of action.

They have very little condi removal, use that to your advantage.

Death shroud takes half damage from direct damage attacks. If you can’t avoid a shatter, be sure to DS it. You should still be standing after.

Just clarifying. You want to dodge past the clones. If you dodge away from them they can still shatter on you. And that trait was made baseline.

Really the best way to understand Mesmers is to play as one for a while. Obvious, of course, but it let’s you learn the Mesmer thinking so you can do better to predict Stun-bursts.

I play power mancer with Path of Corruption (DS2 boon rip) which pretty much destroys most classes 1v1. Feel free to eat a full shatter in DS, then DS #2 boon rip him. 90% will pop their good boons early at start of fight. Then 5>4> into 1 spam combo and as soon as #5 procs pop out of DS and finish off with dagger auto attacks.

Thats like perfect scenario but in general- Path of Corruption trait is awesome vs slippery mesmers and their boons, and almost every class, and bait/dodge/eat shatters in Death shroud. Dodging to take no damage is obviously ideal- but lets face it, we’re all human and sometimes the clones are coming from all angles and you dodge and get hit anyway. Don’t be afraid to just tank it in DS

Conditions I cant help ya, but for power necro PoC is the key to kittenting on people in 1v1s

Also, idk if this is still hte case, but I’m pretty sure DS does like 10% mor damage with a 2H equipped so try to time it so that you’re in DH with staff out, but when you pop out of DH ur daggers are up for max DPS
