Truth!
There’s a lot of complaints about necros being broken and underpowered and whatnot but if you enjoy the class, there’s no reason to reroll.
This forum does need more peppy threads though :)
Everything else is scaring other people away from playing.
Not so much underpowered but we have a number of skills that make dungeons and or not effective in pvp like the minions. Number of traits do not work like the 1 for the 30 point in soul reaping tree that was tested to not increase death shroud time at all, jagged horrors not even getting to hit a player or npc, etc. Now we can still do well in pvp and pve setups but we as a class should be doing so much better if thing worked right.
Actually, in dugeons minion builds work pretty fine, unless you have to carefully pull a mob.
Cause, you mostly kill everything, and not to worry about it running wild. Depends how your party plays though. Play smart of course.
Boss fights, alike, Golem is good, else.. not so.
Traits im using seem to work fine, but I noticed some others being.. less good.
Yea, for sure. Some fixes with traits, skills, damage, and it’s all good. But overall is ok.
I run dungeons just fine. You do need to use some skills that you might normally never use and you’ll play more of a supportive role but I suspect that’s par for the course with anyone who doesn’t want to go in with their PvE standard glass cannon build.
My point is that just because it’s infested with bugs doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy playing a necromancer.
I mostly don’t like the tiers we get certain traits. Some of the desirable ones are way too high tier.
I end up making builds just so I can reach certain traits and ignoring a lot of the minors/base amount of direct benefits.
I also feel pidgeonholed into taking Death magic for staff as the only semi counter versus thieves and mesmers and engis that cloak, as marks are the only reliable way I have to hit them in stealth.

While I agree that it’s frustrating that some of the useful stuff can only be unlocked when you put 30 points into it, I’m actually quite thankful that we actually have something that works against stealth.
I noticed that I also ignore these minor traits.. hmm
I’m currently 20/30/20 Staff, scepter + dagger.
It works fine, lot of aoe and damage.
Dungeons as stated, different skills to support and keep yourself alive.
trash is fine, now arah whats his name ive gotten groups killed because of minions, other fights boss’s put aoes on my minions they fall over, ta they often die again all the boss’s, caused spiders to all come at once, etc etc. Minions on boss fights are just meh as a whole, not up enough, makes fights harder most times etc. OK CoF that one fight minions are amazing at the end when you hold the 1 add while others kill the 4 other npcs.

Accidentally pulling extra mobs is sometimes a problem. The bigger problem for me running MM in dungeons is that, depending on the dungeon, strong AOEs can wipe your entire group of minions faster than you can get them back out.
I don’t like minion builds in general.
Flesh golem is good for knocking down a lot of mobs, aiding party. Also adding a lot of damage.. if it attacks the right target.
Just depends where the party is at, and how you play. Sometimes, if runnign past a group, minions can be used as decoy. But yea, it really depends.
I use Flesh Golem and sometimes the Wurm depending on the dungeon run. For all the times we’re like “OMG minion AI sucks”, it comes in handy when it aggros stuff you were going to run past and keep them occupied.
No it’s not bad, it’s not great/amazing compared to some other classes. But it’s playable and I play mine.
The ONLY thing I really have an issue with is our lack of build variety, trait revamp would make me happy.
